Lovely to reminisce about the Golden jubilee - it was very special cause it came after a period of time without much celebration in the royal family after a difficult number of years and the first big occasion where you had William andHarry participating. Of course after this we had the Diamond and Platinum jubilees (both amazing events) but there was somthing extra special about this one.

Of course after this we had the Diamond and Platinum jubilees (both amazing events) but there was somthing extra special about this one.

The Golden and Diamond Jubilees were joyous occasions and I have quite a collection of memorabilia from both that my great aunt and cousins in England would send.
The Platinum Jubilee was more or less I feel a goodbye and tinged with sadness.

Part of it for me was the Queen and DOE were so active in engagements and royal tours over the UK and the Commonwealth for the Golden jubilee it was a great showcase of what the royal family is best at.

I remember watching the events of the Golden jubilee - the palace concerts felt like a real opening up to the people and from 2002 onwards we got increased access like this.
