The Princess of Wales's Eveningwear Part 2: July 2025 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I was surprised that this look has been much criticised- because I love it! I am the rare royal watcher who detests the Cambridge Pearl tiara, and I think it looks better with hair down, because otherwise I just get Statue of Liberty vibes. I would perhaps push it back a smidge (like Princess Madeleine of Sweden did with the amethyst tiara), but overall, I think this is the most flattering it has ever looked on the Princess of Wales. That isn't a knock on her, but on the tiara's design.

The dress looks great- in fact it looks very similar to a white dress Queen Letizia wore in Morocco once. The higher collar on this dress I think looks better when wearing a sash.

I will forever denounce attitudes that royal woman under a certain age have to bare their skin. It's gross and misogynistic, and we never see this criticism of Muslim royal women. If a colleague at work told me that I should show more skin, I'd report them to HR.

Royals looking regal.
Except for the hairstyle, she should have an updo for a tiara gala event so the tiara blends in with the look and not as a hat placed on top of long hair.
The high neckline reminds me of the old royal looks using jewelry wrapped around the neck, I can't remember the name of that type of jewelry but is not a traditional necklace.

Are you thinking of a choker?

Thar's the word! Thanks!
The way the high neckline with the embroidery lace wraps around her neck makes me think she has a diamond chocker

Off topic and speculative posts and comments have been removed.
And if you wish to discuss jewelry please remember to do so at our
jewelry subforum instead.
Thank you!

Im divided about this dress - I like the details but the high neck is a lot!

I think the Princess would have been better with her hair up. I am not liking the collar as it does not know if it should stand up or lay down or inbetween. The color of the dress. Is it a soft yellow or beige? It appears to be washed out. I different color would have been better or even a deeper yellow if it is yellow.

Regarding colour I am not sure if photographs really do justice to colours, or at least clearly show what the colour is.

In the minority here, but I liked the gown and thought Catherine looked wonderful. I do agree that an updo would have been a better choice for her hair.
I concur, I thought the dress worked quite well for the occasion. Quite dramatic, even theatrical, very regal. And whilst the jewel lover in me would have liked a low neckline so a serious necklace could have been worn, the end result works, IMO.

I, too, would have preferred an updo, or a more restrained hair style. But she seems to like this style for now, I am sure she will get over it.

IMO the colour would have been dramatic in the surroundings of Windsor castle

I expected that many would want an up do with a tiara. Personally, I think it's time to break that mold. I think that the dress is beautiful. The high neck is a departure for the Princess. While I think her hair is a few inches too long, I like it down. It softens the potential severity of the collar.

I don't like to criticize her hair because in my opinion her hair is important to her. She has always prized her hair, but even more so now, post-cancer. It's a bit of a talisman for her, I think.

Her hair is her signature, so I get it. I think going at least half up would have been a better look, but she looked fantastic.

The dress is very lovely. However, I don’t think that the Lover’s Knot tiara, with its wonderful pearls, works well with the colour and lovely detailing of the high collared dress. Although the picture of the Princess’ tresses from the back looks very lovely, the same cannot be said for the frontal or side view IMO.

A voluminous chignon at the nape of the neck would serve her well. It would give her face and head the appearance of volume which she must want with the hair down looks, but uncluttered her neck, chest area.
I love the high neck and the gorgeous embroidery

Festival of Remembrance this evening - an Alessandra Rich dress, with her HMS Glasgow brooch. Also apparently according to twitter a poppy designed by Izzy Ager of Lock & Co, a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework, handmade from silk, glass and natural materials.

I think if the collar was smaller I would have liked it more
