The Princess of Orange, News and Events Part 2 (Jan 2024 - present)

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The Dutch Royal House shared a beautiful photo of the Princess of Orange today in Madrid.

The Princess of Orange said:
“Madrid is like a second home for me, especially at a difficult time for me in Holland.
In a very Dutch way, I would like to thank everyone for taking care of my safety and having a good time here in Madrid.
Thank you very much”

Does the crown princess's Spanish sound like a native speaker's? Is her accent more Castilian or Argentinean?

Definitely not fluent like a native, and in some sentences a slight Argentine accent was heard.
I thought she memorized lines when revealing the plaque (I also think she was a little nervous), but she answered a few reporters in very short sentences and tended to switch to English.

She most likely indeed prepared some lines when revealing the plaque (as she would have done for any other occasion independent of the language). I didn't hear her speak English in any of the videos. She talked with the Alcalde in Spanish all the time without any trouble, in free speech used phrases that are specific to Spanish (and different from both Dutch and English) and when asked questions (or given instructions) by the Dutch media, she answered in Dutch.

I am very surprised that CA is not on native level - no matter what accent - with a native Spanish speaking mother and having lived in the country for a year. Very odd.

I doubt that assessment. Hola for example stated that her Spanish was perfect: 'hablando en perfecto español' - which is in line with Carlota's assessment earlier in this thread that her command of the language is really good with traces of a slight accent (both as it to be expected).

short videos when she got in the car and people trying little chat for the last time
Thanks for your answer. I did see videos of that moment. She first said goodbye to the 'señor alcalde' in Spanish and responded in Dutch to questions asked in Dutch by the Dutch media: "Heel fijn, dank u wel". "Het lekkere weer."

The Princess of Orange is a very beautiful young Lady. She grows more confident with each public outing.
A well educated, trained ,drop dead gorgious, intelligent, beautifull, strong, determent young woman.Bless her.
A natural born Queen to be one day. Nonesuch. From a generation of strong women.

When asked -during king's day- whether the opening of the flower garden in Madrid was the end of a difficult chapter in her life, she kind of avoided the question and started rattling about how she was thankful that she could thank Madrid in this way, that she was currently enjoying her life and studies in Amsterdam. That she is 'doing her best' in her studies but is still somewhat unsure when she will be done with her (Bachelor) studies - normally she would graduate this summer (meaning that she would have started her thesis work) but as we all know she had to change course because of security issues, including staying/studying in Madrid for a year, probably changed her program a bit). I am nonetheless curious what she will do for her master's - as that is the most likely next step.

The Coach of Princess Amalia did Wonders . Comparing when we see how she was during the former years . She (..) seems so friendly , so happy to be there. To the Dutch Posters I wanted to confirm you have a great future Queen Bravo !

Catharina Amalia has fallen off her horse and broken her upper arm today.

The Princess of Orange broke her upper arm today after falling from her horse. She will undergo surgery at the UMC Utrecht.

More information will follow as soon as it becomes clear what the possible consequences are for official obligations and other agreements.

Máxima received the message during a conference today:

Let´s hope her arm will recover soon. I imagine she may miss the photo shoot this week.

Wishing the Princess a speedy recovery!

If it is a minor fracture we may just see the Princess in a sling at the photoshoot.

IIRC, the family still continued with a photoshoot in 2016 when the young Princess Amalia sprained her ankle. She showed up to the photoshoot with crutches.

The upper arm somehow sounds worse than under arm. I wonder where she was rising that the surgery is taking place at UMC Utrecht. Maybe at her grandmother's? Are there any horses at Drakensteyn? If not, probably at Het Loo. If she was rising near The Hague traveling to Utrecht seems unlikely.

The photo session has been postponed due to the accident and injury.
And Queen Máxima has cancelled two of her planned engagements today.

But good news, the operation went well and Catharina Amalia will leave hospital tomorrow:

Her Royal Highness the Princess of Orange underwent surgery on Tuesday evening, June 10, for a fracture in her upper arm. The operation went well. She will remain at the UMC Utrecht for monitoring until tomorrow.

The summer photo session planned for Thursday morning, June 12, at Paleis Huis ten Bosch has been postponed to June 30 for this reason. The agenda of Her Majesty Queen Máxima for Wednesday, June 11, has also been adjusted for this reason. She will not be present at the CGAP congress in Amsterdam. In addition, His Majesty the King will be present at the opening of the Holland Festival without Queen Máxima.

I am glad all went well. A bit surprised that she has to stay in hospital another night.

Glad she is ok. I do find it a bit weird that Maximas cancelled her visits. I imagine the family saw her last night. Amalia is a grown woman. Yes, she will be in pain and bored, but there is not much Maxima can do.

Depending on which arm it is, suddenly being unable to use your arm and hand is pretty disabling. Amalia’s going to need help for everything; including, possibly, putting toothpaste on her brush. I can understand her mom rushing over.

Good point. That might also be the reason that she is not discharged until tomorrow. They might want to make sure that she's learned a couple of basic life skills without using her arm (typically taught by a physical therapist) to ensure that she will give it plenty of rest.

Apparetly the Queen was spotted near the house of Amalia in Amsterdam this morning, supposedly to collect some things she needed. The palace must be short staffed.

Apart from the broken arm she perhaps has some bruises too, which will hurt more than the broken arm.

I don't know. Personally, I would prefer for my mom to get me some personal items, probably even some rather private clothing items, than for some staff member to rummage through my locker.

i can detect some argentinian accent, but some words sound castillian to me. it is hard to tell as the videos weren't long enough, but i would say it is a mix between both, which i guess is normal as someone who learnt it as a second language with an argentinian mom but having lived in spain.

If it were my daughter, I would absolutely be with her. Your kids never stop being your kids!

I’m sure Maxima will reschedule all of her previous commitments in due time. She has always been a hard worker.
Queen Máxima will certainly give her daughter all the help she can. Her commitments can certainly be rescheduled for other dates. But I'm sure her priority is her daughters.
