The Princess of Orange, News and Events Part 2 (Jan 2024 - present)

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I love the tradition of the Dutch Royal Family thanking other nations with gifts of tulips.
The DRF continues to thank Canada for sheltering Princess Juliana and her daughters during WWII by sending tulip bulbs to Ottawa. I find it lovely that the Princess of Orange has now gifted some to Madrid.
Lovely gesture!

This is not 100% guaranteed but there is a rumor that Catharina-Amalia will have a grand party for her 21st birthday.

I haven’t read anything in the Dutch press about it, but it would be lovely of course. It is however not a tradition. Her father never had one.

21 is not really a 'thing' in the Netherlands. Of course, her outlook is a bit more international and her 18th birthday was during the pandemic with restrictions in place (which were probably not completely followed), so who knows...

I wish that were true. It would be great if Catharina Amalia had a big party for her 21st birthday and invited Christian from Denmark, Ingrid Alexandra, Elisabeth from Belgium or Princess Leonor from Spain.

Supposedly Amalia went to Bulgaria with Prince Boris.

They base their statement on a video on the instagram account of Prince Boris where there is a woman with long blonde hair, which of course could be anybody.

I don't think Boris would risk exposing Amalia if she spent time with him in Bulgaria. It'd be unwise both for her privacy and for her security.

Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam now has a statue of the Pss of Orange:

It certainly looks like her from behind. While Amalia's security is tighter than most she has enjoyed numerous excursions all over the world. With the right planning, I don't see why she couldn't enjoy a trip to Bulgaria.

Pretty well done!

Madame Tussauds in Dam Square was always one the better ones and that was excellent work!

Here are those Wax Works!

According to RTL he photos on the horse were made by a Finnish friend of the Princess, who is named Nina Nikkilä.. From her instagram it seems the lady is married to a Dutchman and lives in The Netherlands. The must know each other due to the interest in horses.

upcoming solo act for Amalia

"Her Royal Highness the Princess of Orange will christen the Combat Support Ship 'Den Helder' in Vlissingen on Saturday afternoon, 22 February. The Combat Support Ship (CSS) 'Den Helder' was designed and built by Damen Naval on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

According to ancient law by the royal houses of Orange Nassau & Sakse Coburg & Gotha (, there will be no marriages B/w the 2 Royal Houses, as prince Boris of Bulgaria is from the House of Sakse Coburg & Gotha Bulgaria & prince Gabriel of Belgium is also from the House of Sakse Coburg & Gotha Belgium. Reason was & still is unknown according to the bulletins of both royal houses.

Can you share links to the specific bulletins you are referring to? I am only aware of a prohibition from the Belgian side (to avoid a descendant of the royal house of Orange to ever end up on the Belgian throne) but not the other way around.

The extended detail of this royal decree is NEVER fully explained to the public.

Which royal decree are you talking about?

In a previous post, Tatiana Maria referenced the Belgian prohibition (which is also discussed on this wikipedia-page (in Dutch)) but I have not seen any evidence of a Dutch prohibition, so please share that if it exists. If there is none, we best conclude that there is no such prohibition for Amalia.

The Belgian decrees reads: "Den volksraed verklaert dat de leden van het stamhuys van Oranje-Nassau voor altyd uyt alle magt of gezag in België uitgesloten zyn." - which imho can be interpreted that a member of the Belgian royal house can still marry a member of the house of Orange-Nassau (including Amalia) but would have to give up their rights to the Belgian throne to do so.

Any further discussion about this Belgian decree, therefore, best take place in the thread that already discussed this topic.

Good to see her undertaking engagements - is this the first solo?

She’s getting a slightly more exciting ship than Alexia (although that turned out to be a nice event).

She may not get the band and champagne.

She will attend official Events her whole life ?
As the future queen, that would be a given. Unless she abdicates and unlike her grandmother becomes some type of royal recluse who refuses to appear in public.

First solo engagement, at long last

Did she receive a jewelry gift for christening the ship as customary for ladies who christened ships?

The Dutch news mentioned that her father's first solo event was at the age of 24. I guess the Dutch royal house doesn't care much about this milestone or Alexia would have had hers later than Amalia.
