The Princess of Girona Foundation mourns the death of Agustín Escobar, senior Siemens executive

With profound sadness, we mourn the passing of Agustín Escobar, his wife, and children in a tragic helicopter accident in New York. We share the grief of his family and friends during this difficult time.

A Siemens executive in Spain and Patron of our Foundation until 2024, Agustín has been an example and a role model, involved in the personal and professional development of young people. He was one of the mentors of our "Talent Generation" program, with a firm commitment to fostering young talent. Agustín leaves an indelible mark. His legacy will always be in our hearts.

King Felipe presided the ceremony in Móstoles, Madrid, where Gabriela Asturias, founder of the Desarrolla Guatemala Foundation for Education and Health, was awarded the "2025 International Princess of Girona Award" in the Research category, and Valentina Agudelo (Colombia), founder and CEO of the technology startup Salva Health, was awarded the "2025 International Princess of Girona Award" in the CreaEmpresa category.

The King and Queen, Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofía will preside two days of activities in Barcelona and Girona for the presentation of the 2025 Princess of Girona Awards.

The 2025 Princess of Girona Awards ceremony will take place at the iconic Gran Teatre del Liceu.

It will be a unique evening featuring the six young award winners, who will deliver a personal and inspiring message to the audience: Pablo Sánchez Bergasa, founder and director of the NGO Medicina Abierta al Mundo (Open Medicine to the World); Manuel Bouzas Barcala, architect, teacher, and curator; Andreu Dotti Boada, civil engineer and co-founder of Innovamat; Antoni Forner-Cuenca, chemical engineer and researcher; Valentina Agudelo, Colombian businesswoman and founder and CEO of Salva Health; and Gabriela Asturias, Guatemalan scientist, doctor, and entrepreneur.

Culture and art, central themes of the visit to Sant Martí Vell by the Princess of Asturias and Girona and Infanta Sofía

The Princess of Asturias and Girona and Infanta Sofía will visit Sant Martí Vell on July 24th. Accompanied by a group of young people, they will visit various properties restored by the Italian jewelry designer and philanthropist Elsa Peretti. These homes are part of the heritage of the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation, patrons of the Princess of Girona Foundation. The work of the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation covers multiple areas such as art, culture, education as a tool for change, social integration, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups.
