The Prince of Wales and the Earthshot Prize

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I think Brazil was a great choice for the awards. What has happened with the rainforests in the past and now the efforts being made to restore it is commendable. Good idea to shine a light on different countries/continents and how they are managing/repairing their own environmental issues.

The Prince of Wales met with Mayor Eduardo Paes and receives the 'keys' to the city of Rio de Janeiro.

I like how thoughtful they are with Earthshot. It feels like the award ceremony is nice, but that the other events are equally important.

How is Rio not more polluted than it is? You’d think you wouldn’t be able to see anything from the mountain because of smog.

My nephew, who happens to be in on holiday in Brazil, sent me a photo of a selfie he took with William at Sugar Loaf mountain. My nephew is an Aston Villa fan, so they shared their thoughts on the next game.

Is Jason Knauf on the board of the Royal Foundation too?
I was glad to see pictures of William and one of the products from an Earthshot winner. I think these winners are so bright and innovative.

The Earthshot Prize is now being dragged into the Epstein mess, with revelations that Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, an Emirati billionaire who once donated 1 million GBP to the charity, was in regular contact with Jeffrey Epstein for many years, and once received an email from him in which he said 'I loved the torture video'.

As a result of this connection, Earthshot has been reported to the UK Charity Commission, which is now conducting an assessment.

So, what is the specific accusation that is being looked into? That they received a large donation one time from an associate/friend of Epstein? What rule would be broken?

In the gutter of the internet there’s quite an effort to find a link, anything between the Epstein scandal and William.

That's why I am asking. If the UK Charity Commision is looking into it, there must be a specific accusation; so, I am wondering which one as so far it doesn't make sense from the outside.

The cooperation was with the company and not an individual anyway, wasn't it? I stand corrected, if they draw a different conclusion, but at this point I think there would be more important things to think about in this whole saga, than William and his charity.

Is he a co-founder of Earthshot as stated in the article or just a donor?
I think going forward there is going to be a lot more public scrutiny and outcry over where these donations are coming from (not just Earthshot) and who besides the charity is benefiting.

Here's what I found in a Forbes magazine article where the company, DP World, is acknowledged as a founding corporate partner.

DP World was a founding corporate partner and major donor to Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, an environmental award that awards $1 million annually to innovative projects addressing climate change, pollution and conservation

“ A Charity Commission spokesman said: 'We are aware of concerns about sources of funding to The Earthshot Prize. We are assessing this information to determine any next steps and if there is a role for the Commission.'”

They are just assessing information at the moment. (It’s from the daily mail article.)

Yes it was with the company, DP World.
