This year, 14 Nobel Prizes were awarded to 14 laureates. Since 1901, the Nobel Prize has been awarded 633 times to 1,026 laureates. As some have been awarded the prize twice, a total of 990 individuals and 28 organisations have received a Nobel Prize or the Sveriges Riksbank Prizein Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
Nobel Minds
Since the 1960s, the laureates have during Nobel Week gathered for around table discussion for television called Nobel Minds. The programme has a popular science approach and examines general questions related toscience, research and literature. Several of the 2025 laureates from the scientific disciplines participate in the conversation. The programme is recorded at the Bernadotte Library in the Royal Palace on 9 December in front of an invited audience. The Crown Princess and her husband will also attend. The programme is produced by Sveriges Television and BBC World News. The discussion will for the first time be moderated by Lucy Hockings from the BBC.
The Nobel Prize award ceremony
Nobel Day, 10 December, begins with the traditional Nobel Prize award ceremony at Konserthuset Stockholm, which will start at 16:00. There will be presentation speeches about this year’s prizes before an audience of about 1,560 guests, who will then watch the laureates as they each receive their medals and diplomas from the hand of H.M. the King of Sweden.
Seated on the stage will be about 90 people. In addition to the 2025 laureates, there will also be laureates from earlier years. Others seated on the stage will include members of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Nobel Assembly of Karolinska Institutet, the Swedish Academy and the Board of Directors of the Nobel Foundation. Seated in front of them on the stage will be this year’s laureates and members of the Swedish Royal Family: H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf, H.M. Queen Silvia, H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel. In the first row closest to the stage, the following guests will be seated: H.R.H. Prince Carl Philip, as well as H.R.H. Princess Madeleine and Mr Christopher O’Neill.
The Nobel Prize banquet
After the ceremony at Konserthuset Stockholm, it will be time for the evening’s Nobel Prize banquet at Stockholm City Hall. The banquet programme will follow tradition and begin with the entry procession of the Royal Family and other guests of honour down the grand stairway and into the Blue Hall at 19:00 CET. Prior to this, the guests of honour will have been presented to the Royal Family in the Prince’s Gallery in City Hall.

For the first time, the Nobel Prize banquet chef consists of a duo
This year, chef duo Tommy Myllymäki and Pi will be in charge of the first and main course for the 1,300 guests in the Blue Hall on 10 December. They are joined by Frida Bäcke, who for the second year in a row will create the evening’s dessert.

100 students get to experience the Nobel Prize award ceremony on 10 December
One hundred secondary school students and teachers are now for the first time invited to the Nobel Prize award ceremony in Konserthuset Stockholm to see when the laureates are awarded their medals and diplomas.
“We want young people to feel that science and knowledge are things that concern them. Experiencing the Nobel Prize award ceremony on site represents a way of triggering that curiosity. The Nobel Prize is about recognising efforts that make the world a better place. By inviting young people, we want to show that the future is in their hands”, says Hanna Stjärne, Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation.
