“Mission 2030” starts on the island of Mainau
Plan International's sustainability exhibition discusses steps for a fairer, safer and more equal world
The interactive exhibition "Mission 2030 – Experiencing Global Goals" by the children's rights organization Plan International Germany will be on display on the island of Mainau until September 22, for the first time in Baden-Württemberg. In the Coat of Arms Hall at Mainau Castle, the public can visit six multimedia exhibition modules, learn about the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and playfully find food for thought for better and fairer living conditions.
Countess Bettina Bernadotte, Managing Director of Mainau GmbH, says: "How we live in the future is directly linked to our actions today. For us at Mainau, it is particularly important to contribute to sustainable economic development and a fairer world of tomorrow. The Plan International exhibition, with its interactive stations, offers many starting points for engaging the public in this discussion."

Countess Bettina is a member of the Board of Trustees of Plan International Germany.

Count Christian Bernadotte awarded on May 14 the winners of 13th Anneliese Rothenberger Singing Competition.

The renowned singing competition for young opera singers takes place every two years under the umbrella of the European Cultural Forum Mainau, traditionally at Mainau Castle.
Participants from all over Germany, Switzerland, and Austria apply for this prize, donated by Kammersängerin Anneliese Rothenberger. These are (primarily) students or highly qualified graduates of music academies or opera studios.

I am just now seeing that Countess Marianne Bernadotte passed away, may she rest in peace and condolences to her loved ones.

Sophia Bernadotte presented her new jewelry collection at the "Art, jewelry and fashion" event on May 24.

The Caviar Spoon is handcrafted from luminous mother of pearl – the only material worthy of the delicacy it serves. Each spoon is finished with our signature sheaf symbol, a motif with origins dating back to King Gustav Vasa, in either sterling silver or gold-plated brass.
A collector’s item. A conversation starter. A celebration of the everyday extraordinary.

Countess Marianne Bernadotte af Wisborg's funeral at Oscar's Church in Stockholm started at 14.00. At this church Marianne got married with Sigvard Bernadotte in 1961. The funeral is conducted by Pastor of the Royal Court Parish Michael Bjerkhagen. Victoria, Carl Philip and Madeleine's confirmation priest, vicar Hans Rhodin is also at the church.

According to Svensk Damtidning it was always planned that Madeleine wouldn't attend the funeral.

Amazing Grace, Schubert's Ave Maria, Frank Sinatra's My Way, Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah and Time to Say Goodbye among the music at the funeral.

In Expressen:

I'm surprised that Madeleine didn't attend - Marianne was close to the Royal Family and attended Madeleine's wedding and the christenings of Leonore, Nicolas and Adrienne.

Will Countess Marianne Bernadotte of Wisborg be buried in the royal cemetery?

As soon as there is a funeral within the swedish royal family, all the media seems to be fixated with headlines like ”Victoria’s tears”, ”Victoria breaks down in front of everyone”, and ”See Victoria cry” etc etc etc

It is annoying and not so little disrespectful….. Where is the symapthy for the closest relatives ? But i suppose they have to write things like that to make people notice….

I was going to comment about this, but you beat me to it. Expressen and Svensk Damtidning in particular does every time the Crown Princess attends a funeral.

No Hagasessorna or Danish nieces present? Dear oh dear…
They are old themselves now and not in the best of health…

Marianne was not close to the danish royal relatives. With the exception of King Frederik IX’s and Queen Ingrid’s funerals, i am not aware of her having been invited to any royal occassions there…

I guess that has also something to with Sigvard wanting his Princely Title back and his quarrels about that with the King

Not unlikely… Queen Ingrid was very dissapointed at her brother for beginning to call himself ”Prince Sigvard Bernadotte” without The King’s permission.. The contact between them was complicated after that..

Countess Marianne would later reconcile with the swedish royals and they became close again - but that contact did to my knowledge not extend to the danish royals…

Count Björn Bernadotte celebrates today his 50th birthday.

There's a milestone birthday on the flower island of Mainau. Count Björn Bernadotte turns 50 on Friday, June 13. This marks half a century of life on the island.
The fact that the anniversary falls on a Friday, the 13th, is hopefully not a bad omen. At least the festive matinee organized for the celebratory occasion in the White Hall of Mainau Castle should dispel any superstitious thoughts with its splendid setting.
When things aren't business-related, Count Björn is known, among other things, as a remarkable shotgun shooter and considered a passionate hunter. He is also said to be enthusiastic about the local Swabian-Alemannic carnival. However, he is also said to have something else that is considered rather unusual for a count: He is said to prefer the energetic use of a chainsaw in the Mainau Forest to hours spent at his desk.

The Mainau Island at its website:
As a highlight of the celebration, Count Björn christened a new rhododendron variety after himself as a birthday surprise. The rhododendron variety 'Graf Björn' was created at the Bruns nursery in Bad Zwischenahn and is a cross between Rhododendron yakushimanum 'Silverlady' and the rhododendron variety 'Knuth'.
The evening celebration took place with Mainau partners, friends and family, first on the Grand Duke Friedrich Terrace and then in the Palm House. Count Björn emphasized that he considered his birthday a milestone: "I once again realized what a gift it is to be able to get to know so many great people in connection with supporting so many exciting social, cultural, and sustainable projects, to meet them regularly, and to define and implement common goals. I'm looking forward to everything that's to come and am already excited to see how I'll look back on today in ten years."

With the passing of countess Marianne, the oldest Bernadotte living in Sweden is 94-year old count Folke Bernadotte, whose wife Christine passed away in May 2025 at the age of 93 years. He hasn't attended the royal events for a very long time.
Folke's brother count Bertil Bernadotte has his 90th birthday in October, we saw him and his wife Jill at Ines' christening:

Bertil and Jill's daughter Astrid Bernadotte (who married Filippo Bruti Liberati in 2017) is now a partner at Omer Tiroche Gallery in London.

Bernadotte Scholarship awarded to Five Promising Young Women
The actress Rebecca Plymholt, the artist Adèle Essle Zeiss, the designer Hanne Klein, the designer Asli Abdulrahman Ali and the opera singer Karolina Bengtsson receive this year's scholarship from Marianne and Sigvard Bernadotte's Artist Fund.
Earlier this year, Marianne Bernadotte passed away just a month before her 101st birthday. To pay tribute to her memory, the board has increased the scholarship amount to 101,000 kronor.

The obituary of countess Christine Bernadotte, wife of count Folke Bernadotte, she passed away on May 21. The funeral will be on September 8 in Uppsala.
Obituary

That's a really long time between death and funeral. Is that common in Sweden? Will her body remain in a mortuary for the time being?

I’m 99,9 % sure it means that she has already been cremated and that it will be a funeral service with an urn… Then you are allowed to wait up to a year for burial in Sweden..

If you are not cremated and has a funeral with a coffin, then you have to get buried within 30 days..
