I hope nobody views this post as a criticism of Meghan as it isn’t but an observation. Meghan came from a different world, she was used to earning her own money and spending it as she wanted. The working royal set up is limiting financially , and Meghan was not used to that. She wanted financial independence.

Without any doubt. She could have done with her own money whatever she wanted. As she did, she bought a sofa. The furniture from the royal collection wasn’t of interest for her. But she wanted the BRF money.

Maybe she didn’t have a full understanding of how it all worked before they were married.

If I may say so, I'm not convinced the financial independence thing is going so well. Her latest post showed her pouring some honey over a croissant with some raspberries and sparkling wine sitting nearby. That's often my breakfast on a Sunday morning. Who is this meant to appeal to and how does it lead to financial independence?

I am not sure I agree. Now that Willian has financing from the Duchy of Cornwall, Charles no longer has to fund him, so he has a lot more headroom.
Yeah but he lost William and Kate and gained his siblings and working royal cousins. Not counting children, 2 dropped off - William and Kate, 4 would have slid over - Charles, Camilla and the Sussexes and then he would have gained 8 others. The income from the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster are not vastly different, so the way I see it, the Duke of Lancaster, aka the monarch, has less headroom than the Duke of Cornwall / Prince of Wales.

I agree with your comments. It is the road they chose.

Let's move on from discussing past events and get back to discussing current news. Any further posts along those lines will be removed.

The Daily Mail is claiming that some of Prince Harry's visa documents will be made public after the Department of Homeland Security agreed to release them.

The article (link here) says that three items can be unsealed with redactions, but a fourth item should remain sealed. No info has been provided on what the four items are.

This is part of an ongoing case brought by the Heritage Foundation, which claims Harry may have lied about his previous drug use in his visa application.

For background, the Heritage Foundation is a conservative think tank based in Washington DC. It supports President Trump, and has played a major role in the development of Project 2025.

Have there been any trailers with regards products that will be available to purchase from the new website, I do not follow X or Instagram so not sure if I have missed anything

[.....]
It took look rather like the Tig which does make it odd not to use it again, especially as none of the names she has chosen instead (ARO or As Ever) use her name so its not like she had to use a new product name to get her own name in it. I read somewhere that the Netflix show doesn't actually showcase any products from her brand (so maybe there isn't a tonne of editing going on to change and name references as I first suspected) which shows how poorly thought out the whole thing is - a prime opportunity to show off the products wasted.

She didn't though. Apparently, she believed the dress was comped and ignored it when the designers sent the bill. So KP handled it.
I've heard both and I think at the time KP stated it had been "privately purchased" which is both factual yet also vague.
Interestingly I don't think we saw Meghan in any Ralph and Russo after that one appearance (though it went into Administration in 2020 so that might explain that to an extent)

The administration of R&R was not for 2.5 years after Meghan's engagement to Harry. In fact, the brand was still surviving till Meghan left the RF, but Meghan was never seen in the brand after the engagement. So it is possible that there was ill will between R&R and Meghan.

Absolutely. And in many ways it would have been a good go to brand for Meghan’s official “workwear”- a British brand by an Australian and one not heavily associated with Catherine or another royal lady already. It could certainly suggest ill will, or maybe just that they weren’t willing or able to offer her clothes at a huge discount and with a small(er) budget from Charles it was out her price range- from what I remember their clothes were pretty pricey. But the fact she wasn’t seen with anything else from them makes me think they weren’t wanting to entertain her.

Fair point about the name but choosing “as ever” to mark a new part of your life would be an odd choice to me? Because it suggests continuity and always being something not ‘now I am a mother and wife’. Its an interesting name but one that doesn’t seem deeply rooted in anything much to me.

"As Ever' was apparently one of the ways Diana signed off her letters. I think Meghan's use of the phrase is another 'sweet nod'.

Well let's hope the media doesn't make that connection

I agree with others here who have suggested Meghan should go back to The Tig. I'd never heard of it before she became famous, (or more famous, depending on if you were a fan of the TV program she was on), but it now has brand recognition because of her marriage. I cannot think she would refuse to go back to it because it was pre-marriage to Harry (that, in my opinion, would make it a stronger reason to go back to it as something she did on her own, self-made etc etc), nor even because in some quarters it might be construed as a step backwards (she's shown a lack of concern about the opinions of others). Perhaps there are other issues blocking the resurrection of the Tig, such as patents etc, similar to her other ventures?

I have also commented that Meghan should have re opened the TIG but IMO she would view that as a backward move, going back to before Harry, where as she wants to show a move upwards. The thing is she could have started with what she left and built really quickly but anyway for whatever reason she does not want to do that.

Thinking about it I wonder if she hasn’t restarted The Tig because we keep hearing that Netflix are helping with her latest venture. They won’t be doing that out of the kindness of their heart so possibly they are part owners in the new company/brand (or Meghan is simply the face of it) so of she restarted the Tig that would mean handing over the rights or part of the rights to Netflix.

My own theory is that she hasn't restarted The Tig because it had a different audience from the one she's targeting now, and the name isn't grandiose enough for her. I think she wants to go for the Goop crowd, which I honestly think isn't her core audience. Maybe if she clocked in enough hours as a royal, she would have been seen more as one versus an actress who played a supporting role in a moderately successful network show and married PH and then quickly left. As such, it's a struggle to see her as offering high-end luxury, no matter the typeface she chooses to write the company name with, so The Tig does make more sense versus the forced luxury brand she is trying to create. That isn't a bad thing, and just because it isn't ultra high-end doesn't mean it can't be premium. In fact there's likely to be more money to be made in mid-range, good quality home goods that can be scaled up better and sold in Target, etc. Anyway, I hope she created a study of her target market because I personally sense a disconnect.

Netflix will be opening a store at the King of Prussia Mall in PA. Wonder if some of the items will be sold there.

Yes, I've read that the plan is for her products to be sold in the Netflix retail stores, alongside the Bridgerton and Squid Game merchandise.
