Invictus has moved from BBC to ITV but will not be shown on live TV. Just on ITVX - the player. Which is a nice compromise. It obviously wasn't getting the viewers but people can catch up if they want. I wonder how much coverage it will get. It's a great thing and means so much to those who compete but it's continuation most rely on making money and sponsorship somewhere.

I think the issue is that people don't know the competitors. I quite appreciate that not everyone wants to speak to the media and have their faces and their business broadcast all over everywhere, but I think that hearing about some of the people involved would attract a lot of interest.

I was thinking about that. A competition should be about the competitors, the organizers should be highlighted in the thanks at the end.

Oh I'm sure Meghan will be marching in her parade again...

But yes, it is all about the competitors and not at all about the merched outfits ;)

The retiring CEO of the IG says they're expecting 40,000 people to attend the Opening Ceremony concert. That's wonderful for the veterans. I despise Harry (in particular) and Meghan, but why not acknowledge that IG is a great thing - probably the best and most important thing Harry's name is attached to. I hope it's hugely successful (and of course that, eventually, there will be no need for such charities/events).

Bunte online, the German tabloid, reports:
Donald Trump wettert gegen Herzogin Meghan: "Sie ist schrecklich"

There is a ongoing uncertainty about Prince Harry's visum to the United States. Even President Trump (78) was interfering into the debate and insinuated to force Prince Harry out.

But now: “I don’t want to do that,” he said. “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
Exclusive | Trump rules out deporting Prince Harry: ‘He’s got enough problems with his wife’

And he praised Crown Prince William as a great, young man.

The Sussexes arrived in Canada via a chartered private plane, and stayed in a suite that costs $5,000 per night.

Who pays? Did they cover the cost themselves, is it all comped, or are the expenses charged to the charity? And are there speaker fees involved? Anyone know?

Publicly insulting someone’s spouse is usually taken as a reason for offense. For…millennia, now, probably.

And Harry is fairly defensive and reactive of anybody saying anything negative about Meghan. However in this case it’s fairly standard MO from the person making the remark and I’m not sure what Harry can do about it.

Whatever Tump's reasons are, I guess that must come as a relief for Harry, so I don't see why he should be upset by those comments.
It might be somewhat of a relief to Harry’s lawyers. However, Harry adores his wife and family. He’s in love with Meghan, even after all these years and what they’ve faced together. And so I can’t imagine him being anything but insulted by Trump’s remarks. And I honestly think anyone would be. Trump doesn’t know her, has never met her.
If the boot was on the other foot would Trump like it if Harry said anything insulting about his spouse? He would probably go right off, IMO.

Trump insults everyone who isn't a cap-doffing bootlicker inside his inner circle. Everyone is 'nasty' to him, from Canadians to Taylor Swift. It's never pleasant to see your spouse being attacked, but Harry should let this particular insult go, and recognize it as the pointless, idiotic, eye-rolling 'sure Jan' moment it is.

If Trump insulted my spouse, we would probably high-five each other, and take it as a badge of honour. But that is just me :)

Interesting poll...

In a poll the majority of people see Harry and Meghan as celebrities rather than royals.
40% of respondents see Harry as a celebrity
60% see Meghan as a celebrity rather than a royal

43% of respondents also had a negative view of Harry, 54% had a negative view of Meghan.

Well, if they are only celebrities then it’s about time polls like YouGov and others stopped putting them (and the Yorks etc) on their four times a year popularity polls of the BRF.

Having said that, I don’t consider Ipsos polling as accurate as the former. And the facts are, whether the public consider the Sussexes celebrities or not, they remain the son and daughter in law of King Charles of GB and Harry certainly will be until his dying day.

The poll and article seems like a trolling activity by The Telegraph* and since I am commenting about it, I guess I fell for it. The question is designed to get exactly the response it got regarding Harry and Meghan being more celebrities than royals and from there the media has another Harry and Meghan article to get clicks.

I take issue with the sub-headline [emphasis mine], "Duke of Sussex demoted to a celebrity in the public eye ahead of Invictus Games". Celebrity is a broad spectrum, yes there are people who are celebrities for negative and/ or trivial reason, but there are people who are celebrities because they are talented and have made significant contributions.

* I assume The Telegraph commissioned the poll but it is possible Ipsos conducted the poll on its own.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were welcomed to Rogers Arena ahead of the start of the Invictus Games.

I was wondering why Meghan was behaving like some over-hyperactive teenager who get a ticket for her idol concert? All these clapping, rictus smile, big kiss on Harry's face (which she covered with her hands just to be sure the camera will be only on her...)... If you look at the faces ot other spectators they have completely different mimic.... Pls Meghan remember- you are not in Canada because you are filming for "Suits" where many years ago you have landed a contract for some minor role and which contract wasn't going to be renovated because of your poor actor skills.... You are here only because of Invictus Games and only because you are somene's wife.... So pls rememeber- it's not a show about you, your clothes, hair or jewelllery.... It's about brave veterans.... So pls try to not steal the show from the veterans and your husband... at least for 10 minutes.... ok ... in your case even 5 minutes will be too much.... :devilish:

She can’t help herself. (Puts on the “armchair specialist” hat.) I believe she is not at all sure about herself, I’d even say that at the same time she doesn’t like herself and she loves herself very much. So she’s unable to relax and be natural. (Takes hat off.) Sometimes I feel sorry for her. Then I remember Wimbledon.

You give her a lot of credit, I think she's self-centered and thinks she extra, extra special. Her mother and father told her so all her life. IMO she doesn't have a doubt in her mind that this is her destiny, that she was born to be Diana 2.0.

I remember her talking about her childhood wish to be famous (one that many young people have, of course), she was so proud of fulfilling that wish. She loves being famous, she loves the limelight. She feeds off the energy. She may have had some uncertainty when she was younger, but not anymore.

I don't think it's an inability to relax, I think it's awful acting as per usual. She doesn't fit in this role no matter how much she thinks it's her destiny. She didn't fit into the royal role, either. She's a Hollywood wannabe who didn't have to chops to make it. But she found her knight in shing armor to fulfill her fairytale. Some feminist.

I was a fan of Meghan when Harry introduced her to his family and had no preconceptions, on the contrary, I found the relationship very new, unusual and progressive. I also found her childhood stories of her earlier involvement and advocacy good and interesting. I therefore hoped that she would maintain her ambitions. To fight for women's rights, to get involved politically, but with sense and reason.

Not like many celebrities who spout blah blah blah and just want to celebrate themselves. I'm disappointed that she didn't achieve more with her potential and doubt whether my original impression was correct.

But, maybe she and Harry live in a world of their own where they keep reaffirming to each other how badly they've been treated by their families. And they just can't get out of this dead end. I hope for both of them that they can at least appreciate and enjoy their family happiness with two healthy children.

I also liked Meghan when she was introduced as Harry's fiancée. I thought she could be a good addition to BRF. Especially because she was different from all the women who had entered BRF up until that time (Kate, Diana, Sarah, Sophie, etc.).
In those two years of Harry and Meghan as senior members I thought they did a good job and represented the BRF well.
So I was also disappointed when Meghan and Harry stepped down from their roles and were no longer senior members of the BRF.

The Duke of Sussex made a point of greeting the heroes from Ukraine.

Slava ukraini, heroyam slava!
As the tweet says, Ukraine now has the largest team of Invictus due to the Russian invasion.

He was always very natural at this, it shows it is a great pity he left the way he did.
