The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Family 12: Jan 2026 -

I never need any translation of Meghan’s words.

And Meghan and Harry happily sat ringside together in LA at an NBA game on Valentine’s Day weekend. Looks like they enjoyed themselves. They sat next to Latifah and chatted.

They did seem to enjoy the cameras perhaps and Queen Latifah seems lovely, though I doubt any European truely cares one iota about basketball. The point here is to be seen, nodded on by their PR team - which must have been the case for other celebrities too. That is why they went to an all-star game and not a regular competition game.

Looks it was a star studded event with the Obamas also in attendance and that they all enjoyed the game!

Things didn't work out in Elizabeth II's realm, so now she's trying Queen Latifah's.

The Hubb Community Kitchen – a volunteer group which was set up in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire disaster has closed its doors
It was visited by the Duchess in November 2018 and she later attended its cookbook launch at Kensington Palace.
The duchess has since then stayed involved with the group.
Meghan Markle's food charity quietly closes its doors after her step back from royal duties

I'm speculating that The Hubb Community Kitchen closed because the former Grenfell Tower residents are now safely housed elsewhere and they no longer needed it to remain open.

I don't know its reasons for closing but I remember the visit as it wasn't that long after Harry and Meghan had married and was I think one of her first solo visits?

It was created as a safe haven after the tragedy.

The cookbook provided funds up keep it going as needed and educational training. Many of the ladies talked about the classes they took in business to help them with entrepreneurship.

It’s been 7 years. It was volunteer based. It’s a good thing if these families are actually settled. It was never meant to be permanent.

According to People Magazine: The families from Grenfall have been rehoused in permanent accommodations with kitchens, and there is no longer a need for the facility to operate.
This is exactly what I had anticipated. While those who used The Hub likely enjoyed each other's company, the need to keep it open for actual use appears to have ended so the facility closed.

The Duke of Sussex has called for nominations for the WellChild Awards 2026:

Thomas Markle is being fitted for a prosthetic leg after having his leg amputated in 2025.

Meghan Markle's father is getting fitted for a prosthetic after undergoing an emergency surgery last year that required his leg to be partially amputated.

Thomas Markle Sr, 81, experienced a blood clot in his left leg in December that could have been fatal. He was rushed to the hospital, where surgeons spent three hours amputating his limb below the knee.

Months later, Thomas Markle Jr revealed in a livestream that his father was going through physical therapy and would soon be trying out prosthetic attachments.

'We’re going to have to get him fitted for a prosthetic here pretty soon and get that man walking again. That’s the goal. That’s the priority,' Markle Jr said.

If Harry and Meghan can highlight the plight of people in the region who have been forced out of their homes by war, even a little bit, that will be wonderful.

And it’s good that they have been invited by WHO and will be reunited with World Central Kitchens who have done sterling work assisting displaced peoples, that’s great too.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have started their two-day humanitarian visit to Jordan today, February 25:

I find it brave they keep doing these faux royal tours/visits - all of them have backfired so far. But this is a worthy cause, so that is good. Normally such a visit would also include a courtesy visit to the palace in Jordan.

I must have read over it -which happens from time to time- but where does it say they were invited by the WHO?

Small irritation with the writing: 'A partnership with the WHO' and 'expanding on existing partnership' says the magazine.... as if it is a collaboration between a social media influencer and a soap-brand. Meghan used that language in the Emma Grede podcast f.e. I find it very odd that this author writes in a simular style about the WHO and refugees. In the Netherlands a lot of these entertainment websites are kept afloat by cheap interns, which does not always lead to the best articles. Maybe it is the same in the US?

The budget of the WHO is around 4,2 billion USD per year. Though all donations help one wonders how Archwell can make a meaningful contribution, considering the limit of its budget. What they can and will bring is publicity and awareness to the work of the organisation, so that is positive.

The BBC published an article today about the visit, which explains in more detail the contribution made by their foundation to Jordan's refugees. , "Archwell Foundation announced it would donate $500,000 (£370,000) to projects - including the WHO - to help develop prosthetic limbs and provide other support for children from Gaza and Ukraine.
The foundation's three grants included $200,000 (£148,000) to the WHO to support medical evacuations from Gaza to Jordan, and $150,000 (£111,000) to the Save the Children charity to provide humanitarian support in Gaza.
The third grant of $150,000 was to the Centre of Blast Injury Studies to help its efforts to develop prostheses that can support injured children, particularly those injured from the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza."

They were indeed invited by the director-general of the WHO.

The British ambassador expressed his gratitude for the visit. There is no mention of a planned meeting with the Jordanian royal family. If that was planned, I think they would have announced it by now.

Continuation of the two day visit to Jordan for the Sussexes.
‘Earlier in the day, Meghan and Harry joined a roundtable discussion with senior figures from UN agencies like UNWRA, UNHCR, World Food Programme, Unicef and diplomatic attendees from countries like the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Canada and the EU.

Philip Hall, British Ambassador to Jordan, thanked the Sussexes for travelling to the Middle East: 'So I would simply say thank you very much indeed for coming.’

'Your visit, your support, your appreciation of the efforts that the United Nations, including of course, the World Health Organisation, the government of Jordan and others, are making here is enormously appreciated. So thank you for coming.'

There are no reports that Meghan is charging her hosts or anybody else for her clothing on this trip. I’m sure if she is the media will be on to it, but I haven’t read that she is wearing anything she hasn’t bought or perhaps been lent. She seems to have pared everything down.

‘Earlier today, Harry and Meghan wrote messages of support to recovering addicts at a rehabilitation centre during the second day of their quasi-royal tour of Jordan.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined a WHO team as they spoke to patients at Amman's National Centre for Rehabilitation of Addicts.

Promoting mental health support is one of the themes of their visit, and the couple both wrote notes on a wall in an attempt to encourage those receiving treatment.’
