There is now a veritable inflation of women being honored for their commitment to “empowering women.” Most of the time, though not always, the “empowerment” of women consists of giving speeches, introducing women who have started their own businesses, and bringing them together. If you look at the social media channels of businesswomen, regardless of whether they have started their own beauty salon or financial consulting business, you will find these topics very frequently. In my opinion, receiving an award or honor for this is not justified, because these appearances also serve to promote themselves. There are lots of people doing philanthropic work without making a fuss about it and being in the headlines of magazines.

My understanding is that many of these sort of "awards" are bought by the recipient.

The duchess was due to attend the Night of Wonder gala in LA last night, the event was postponed given the Civil unrest in LA.
Meghan Markle forced to cancel major event - details

When I clicked on the article above the first lines say
"...In an unexpected turn of events, Meghan Markle has been forced to put her public duties on hold, after a high-profile event set to honour her achievements was postponed due to civil unrest in Los Angeles.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, was due to be the guest of honour at the prestigious Night of Wonder gala, hosted by the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC), on Saturday 14 June. The glamorous evening was set to celebrate Meghan’s ongoing work to uplift women and underserved communities..."

And, no surprise here, when you click on that link line inside of the article that says to celebrate Meghan’s ongoing work to uplift women and underserved communities it takes to the article where she celebrates, per headline:

"Princess Lilibet just wore 2025's cool-girl colour - just like Meghan Markle/Prince Harry's daughter looks adorable in butter yellow..."

Okay. So we get that she uplifts women and underserved communities by dressing up her kid in cool-girl colors. The magazine needs to improve their key lines with matching articles and not imply adorable dress colors are what uplifts underserved communities. The LA riots and the social issues behind them was a great opportunity for Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, to do a Diana Prince of Wales moment and get the media's attention to the problem of uplifting communities in LA.

Hint for the Duchess: people in California come to the country for opportunities, but alongside them are members of the cartels and gangs that exploit them. Meghan could have made a stand last night with the press and ask for some sort of peace, for people on both sides to tone the violence down and explain victims of gangs ad cartels are being mistaken for their victimizers. That would have gotten Meghan in all news today as a spoke person for women and underserved communities.

Such a missed opportunity for a celebrity to speak up, without taking sides, and step in to be a voice for the immigrants in LA exploited by gangs and now caught in the middle. But cool-girl colors to uplift our spirits will do fine now. I wonder if the event is scheduled for another week she would event mention the reason behind the riots that cancelled her big night this week.

...

She doesn't have any public duties. She's a private citizen, supposedly.

Speculation about possible future carreers and plastic surgeries for Archie and Lilibeth has been deleted because:

1: it can only be speculation, which is against TRF terms of service.
2: trying to insult children out of dislike for the parents is distasteful and is not permitted at this forum.
3: posts about plastic surgery -or in this case potential plastic surgery- have always been deleted at this forum but speculating about children and plastic surgery is a new low.

In the future when you have an urge to insult a 6- and a 4- year old, please switch off your computer and go for a walk. This is not normal behavior.

Plus, with regard to the cancelled event in LA, had Meghan spoken up about gangs, cartels or immigrant victims as has been suggested, I can just imagine the huge criticism descending on her. People in the Trump administration would immediately attack as would some Latino (a) protestors.

Meghan would be mountain deep in criticism and hatred on SM from those that don’t like her, and as for the media, every word would be dissected. ‘Pushing herself into politics again!’ ‘Saying inappropriate comments’, ‘None of her business! What’s it got to do with a millionaire from Montecito? She has no Latina blood!’ And on and on for days! That’s what would happen. I’d put my life savings on it!

I agree - in the current political situation, I don’t think Meghan is the best person to be speaking about the issues in LA

Given that the The Heritage Foundation who pursued Harry's eligibility for a US visa are the same people who are currently implementing their despicable influence on the US government via Project 2025, I think it would be VERY unwise of Harry or Meghan to peek above the parapet at this time.

Next year is 2026… So I assume the Games will be in 2 years time. However, often a year before the games there are activities that Harry attends.

"I can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point."

Said PH in his BBC interview. Will be interesting to see if his view has changed by then.

Are we sure she is not 27% Latin?

Meghan has never made that claim, no. And she should not make any statement of any kind about the LA situation even if she is.

In any case, MM only really wants to talk about one thing, and that's herself.
Indeed, she never seems to tire of talking about herself.
A subject she knows well.

Finally, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she never mentions again the letter she sent to the dishwashing liquid manufacturer Procter & Gamble, requesting a change in the advertisement.
Since she won't stop talking about it, I've become allergic to dishwashing liquid.
I think she's going to bore everyone now.

The most important point is that Meghan, as a high profile member of the royal family whether stepping down or not, should not have spoken about politics. It creates the perception that the British monarchy holds political views.

My response could be deemed irrelevant.

[.....]

However, even if Meghan wanted to address the current situation in the United States, I wouldn't call her a senior member of the British royal family.
Especially after seeing her latest video.
The idea of royal or princely behavior didn't come to mind while watching it.

It’s a difference between behaviour and status. I don’t know if she qualifies as a senior royal, but she is definitely a high profile one. She should be more careful with her behaviour, especially when it comes to politics.

Not a senior royal. The senior royals have a seat at the table to discuss ongoing issues etc, have an in put in decision making , neither of them have a seat or ever will have.
I am editing my own post to say celebrity not royal ,

Is she a royal any longer? Seeing how they’ve bamouthed what royaling is? I mean, of course, they are the son and daughter in law of THE King of UK, but are they royal?

She is. She's still listed on the Royal family's website.
