I like the design very much. I do not consider it poorly fitted or constructed, but it is a few smidges away from being impeccable.

It looks like a tough dress to manage. She looks good in it, it just seems like the night was more about handling a cumbersome gown than anything else.

It's Los Angeles. I like the gown, I like the cape/coat, and Meghan looks OK except the dress does not fit. It could do with some expert tailoring.
Would a shorter cape/coat have looked better?

I don't care for the dress, the fabric looks cheap (although I'm sure it isn't). and wrinkly.
It looks like she is dragging a blanket behind her.

The dress, presumably made for her, does not reflect the high standards of fit you would expect from high-end designers. Meghan looks best in bright colours [what Vogue magazine calls 'jewel brights'] and with no trains or embellishments. She looked stunning in that turquoise/blue gown she wore and also stunning in the bright red silk dress on its second appearance when she had the dress re-modelled to 'lose' the bustle or whatever you call it.

Meghan needs close-fitting dresses to do justice to her petite figure. I assume that, unlike most members, I have actually seen and met Meghan in the flesh when I was one of the volunteers working in Windsor in the lead-up to her wedding. She is absolutely tiny - her wrists thin and delicate and what used to be known as a 'handspan' waist. Although I have seen her height given as 5ft 7in and 5ft 5in, having (very briefly) stood with her, I doubt if she is more than 5ft 3in. I have never seen anyone else noting this.

So, bright 'block' colours please and designers who work with her good points. [I actually thought she was very ill-served by Givenchy with her wedding dress. Givenchy surely prepared a toile (trial garment) to get the fit absolutely perfect. If they did not, they should have done.]

And as for embellishments:; during the 'Oprah' interview, I could hardly take my eyes off the white 'splash' on her shoulder, which looked like a seagull 'dropping'. The dress was not improved by that distraction.

I wasn't sure about that either, whether the material of the pants is lighter or whether it was a light effect only, so far there are no better photos.

Look number 2 and 3 (with another blouse)

I was looking at the white outfit. I think the second outfit of khaki trousers is very suitable , varied tops are a good idea, keeps the look fresh without going over the top. Suits the visit,

In her defense: unlike active royals she will probably not be having many people to take care of her wardrobe during the visit. As it is a professional visit I think it is fine. She looks appropriately dressed and it is not a fashion parade. The cause is a good one.

The duchess of Sussex wore a burgundy coloured dress by Californian based designer Heidi Merrick in a social media post over the weekend .
Meghan Markle’s Chic Slip Dress from New Instagram Post Is on Sale
Apparently it’s sold out in that colour, so that’s good. Meghan is slender enough to wear slip dresses and they flatter her I think.

As usual I’m not too fond of monochrome clothing with Meghan but, as others have said, the outfit is suitable for this kind of visit and cause. She looks good in the suit and wearing pants is practical.

Look nr 2- the iron wasn't taken to this trip I see. ... :ROFLMAO:
It looks like these pants are made of linen. In which case it doesn't matter how many times you iron or steam the garment it will wrinkle the second you walk or sit. Linen creases -period, but it is a very comfortable, breathable fabric, which is why it remains popular. What I would rather comment is that if I were someone in the public eye, who is photographed often I would probably avoid wearing linen.

I love to wear linen but you’re right - it’s a wrinkled mess. Fortunately, I don’t have photographers following me around😂

Look 2 is really messy. The pants are way too long and the whole outfit is wrinkled.

The outfit from Day 2 is nice.

Elly, with the most respect, I'm not crazy about the grey jacket. It didn't take her hairstyle into consideration.

The two-handed death grip on Harry isn't doing her any favors either.
That’s fine . I can see what you mean about the jacket with the raised collar bunching up her hair, but I do like the texture and the stitched edging.

I really like the warm short jacket which goes well with the black trousers. It’s a more polished look than the previous day.
Yes it looked really lovely on the duchess and complimented black trousers nicely too.

That look did indeed look polished and the monochrome shades went very well together. It was practical too.

What I really liked was the affordable £109 price tag. Zara has some very nice options for the Duchess.

Time to close this thread. The new one can be found here.
