The Duchess of Edinburgh's Fashion and Style, Part 2: July 2024 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The current fashion for wide pants doesn’t work with all lengths of jackets. I personally think they can work best on a shorter lady if there’s a more cropped style to help elongate the leg. In this case the uncluttered line and navy colour works well. I think she gets the length tight too.

The colours are nice but the suit trousers look too big on the duchess.

Yes, I agree, it almost looks like she threw on a hat because her hair was a mess. Also, I have seen other pictures where her hair was doubled over in the elastic or whatever holding her hair. The coat is really perfect for her, color and fit. The hair, hat and shoes ! let the whole outfit down

Two different looks for the Duchess of Edinburgh during two engagements today, April 28:

** Look 1 ** Look 2 **

The big green dress gives off housecoat vibes and truly overwhelms her. The navy suit looks great on her, good fit and color.

I like the crisp white blouse with the simple lines of the trouser suit. She looks great. The second outfit is pretty dire.I can’t understand why she frequently wears these voluminous styles and long lengths for dresses and coats. When she combines this with a heavily patterned fabric, it’s usually deeply unflattering. I sense there’s two Sophie’s - one who knows how to look elegant and coordinated and another who likes to be a little more unpredictable and has a love of colourful prints. I think she enjoys clothes and I love to see her when she successfully pulls off both elements in one outfit.

Outfit number 1 is the clear winner and I concur regarding the comments on outfit number 2!

A great dress for the Duchess of Edinburgh while visiting the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London this morning, April 30, I only dislike her favourite shoes here ;)

I find there is too much going on in the top half (which doesn't flatlet Sophie's shape) - the polka dots, the unusual sleeve detail with accentuated height and the buttons down the from

The buttons look strange, the colours and polka dots are nice.
Lovely hairstyle on the duchess.

Not keen on the second look. Sophie seems to have acquired a lot of new clothes in the last couple of years .Mainly, I should think, because she carries out so many engagements these days and needs a sizeable wardrobe. But I don’t think she chooses wisely as many of the dresses /coats we have seen recently are not classic pieces that can be worn in say five years time. I think today’s dress is an example of what I mean.

The Duchess of Edinburgh at the military procession for the 80th anniversary of VE Day today - I like the look on her, but not for today, with the light colour and print it stands out too much compared to the others:

Definitely something sober will be more appropriate....

I agree, plus her obsession with overly long coats continues. This look dosnt flatter her AT ALL , I don't know why she thinks it does.

I agree about the repeated, over long length of coat which doesn’t work for her. I do think the hat suits her perfectly with this hair style.I think it’s the combination of the pattern with this colour and perhaps the neckline too which makes the outfit more suited to a summer wedding rather than a commemoration. but it’s not a major issue. I do wonder though who advises her on styling issues as it seems she could do with a fresh pair of eyes.

Really a very strange outfit. The length, the style, I don't think it would suit anyone very well, maybe someone who was 6' tall and very very slim

It wasn't the best choice for today and was more suited to a summer garden party.
The hat was lovely.

The Duchess of Edinburgh at the first Buckingam Palace garden party this year - not a fan of that huge black and white print for her, it swallows her up:

Another miss and I think it’s a new outfit. She keeps making the same mistakes.

I don't particularly like the outfit, but isn't a mournful event. It's both a remembrance and celebration.

Not as bad as the last two dresses. At least this one is form fitting but the print is too big for her

The Duchess of Edinburgh attended the thanksgiving service to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day today, May 8 and this time she got it right again! Very lovely:

She has this Beluah dress in at least 2 other colours - the hat is one from Ascot a few years ago. I think she looks smashing
