I love her Garter Day attire. She looks elegant and sophisticated. I'm glad she's recycling her more expensive pieces. The coat looked great during last year's Trooping the Colour, and still looks lovely on her today.

Funny, I loved this outfit at last year's Trooping the Colour. I'm not loving it here. I think the relatively simple lines of Camilla and Sophie's outfits make Kate's look fussy or the proportion is off somehow.. Also, I'm no fan of these quirkily perched hats.

I was just thinking the opposite! I disliked the dress last year but I like it this year. I think the matching white hat makes a difference for me, although I'm not a fan of the style of the hat.

I like her look today. The skirt is short but it's full, which means she can get out of carriages without it riding up too much. Usually I would complain about a monotone, unadorned look, but standing next to Camilla with her enormous pink hat and her enormous necklace, I like the minimalism. I also think the fact all three wore nude heels was a giant in-joke for the ladies.

I like the grey ensemble from the other day -- well, let me say I would like it on the Duchess of Kent. It looks very Duchess of Kent to me, but then, the Duchess of Kent is 79 years old.

Oh the fascinator again = I much prefer a hat. Like the outfit on the whole but agree about the length just because I think the style would suit a slightly longer skirt. (Good to see all three ladies appearing to enjoy each other's company).

Good gawd what is on Camilla's head!
As for Kate....Not in love with this look. Don't like the hat or it's angle. And the skirt emphasizes how skinny her legs are.

What you mean what's on Camilla's head? That's my favourite hat! :D
Just the other day, I was hoping to see that hat again, especially together with the topaz choker.

Any skirt or dress Kate wears will emphasize her thin legs; it's just the way they are. :)

I absolutely love the look! The outfit is very elegant and chic, though I think it should have been a little bit longer. Plus I hate the hat.

Looking at the Trooping the Color look again, I would have loved the dress if the details on it were excluded. I thought it would have looked very elegant without it as I love the color and the neckline. And with a better hat.

A lovely summer outfit for Kate today. I usually don't like a monocrome look when it's cream or beige; Kate's lucky in that her shiny dark hair provides the contrast which lets her get away with it.

I find full or 'proper' hats to suit older women mostly. On a younger woman I think they tend to look matronly.

I hate the hat, always will hate those type that sit on your forehead. I loved the black slanted one she wore a few years back!

Elegant, typical, sophisticated. Would love colour!

I find the silly hat on the top of her head silly - Kate owns too many of these now.

I actually really like Kate's "Gainsborough" hats; I think she's gone for her own style which sets her apart from Camilla's huge "Queen Mother" hats, and Sophie Wessex's "flying saucers".

I like Kate's tiny hats and fascinators but I hate how she wears them on her forehead.

I hate the way she wears those funny little hats slapped on her forehead, it just looks plain weird. Actually, the whole outfit looks "off" somehow. I think height and shape of the hat makes the outfit look out of proportion with her long hair, long legs and high heels.

As to the hair? Well, once again, had she perched that natty little hat atop a terrific up do and at a suitably jauntily angle, the effect would have been chic, elegant even. Instead the whole deal just looks odd.

Yes, you nailed it, the whole thing is out of proportion

I quite agree about the hat.
I also thought her coat dress was very lovely but a bit too short, a few cm longer would've worked nicer.

Let's hope we get an Ascot appearance.

For me, the hair had to be down yesterday as a contrast to the rest of the outfit being so light.

The garter dress is just too short but otherwise lovely & that hat while I quiet liked it, it just sat too high & made her look 7ft tall.

I like Catherine's long hair but sometimes it can look very wind blown & messy. Maybe she needs to take a bit of the length off to help keep it tidier? Just a couple cms?? Either that or get a better stylist/products that can do better.

New rules at Ascot say that no fascinators nor headpieces that don't cover a sufficient amount of the head (4 inches or 10cm). Proper hat time! :)

I also thought the Order of the Garter outfit was too short and flouncy, you can see layers underneath at the hemline, and I didn't care for the extra material on the dress. I know Kate has got a theme running with these Edwardian-type fascinators, but I wish she'd position them correctly and wear her hair accordingly. Actually, I'd like to see her try a hat like Lady Sarah Chatto wore, just for a change.

Yes, she doesn't take many fashion chances. She found a look that people find acceptable, and she sticks with it. I'm hoping that as she becomes more comfortable in her role in general, she spreads her wings fashion wise.

The Duchess of Cambridge chose cream McQueen for today's Order of the Garter ceremony.
She combined it with cream fascinator, gold clutch and nude heels.

I really like it. I especially love the flounces. The feel of that kind of dress is so feminine, so elegant to wear, wish we had a revival of the petticoat. :) Of a kind. I really like her outfit. She looks great here.

I dislike fascinators but this is a nice one - I like the sculpted aspect. It looks good on her - and would have looked better had she done a half-updo. She should start considering that - though without a dresser and without a hair stylist she must be limited in what she can get done on her own before these events.

And then: what are these women finding to talk about in front of the camera? :p

I don't like the flouncy bit at the bottom that isn't flattering on anyone. I didn't realise wearing cream was a prerequisite? Did they all phone each other so they would co ordinate? Not keen on the hat or the hair. It looks messy and just doesn't go with the hat. I agree with Princess Peach Kate is sticking to a style and maybe as she get's more confident and comfortable in her role she will try something new and not be so...bland really.

I really like the garter outfit. I think it's a youthful style that suits Catherine well while still being suitable for a member of the Royal Family.

I think she looks very elegant.

Kate looked gorgeous and elegant as always. The paler shades do work well with her dark hair.

I believe they do all make sure they coordinate in some way, or at least don't clash. Imagine if one of them turned up in orange and black today?
I think their secretaries email each other, and I think the Queen's secretary send out the first email, and gives some general instructions on what to wear.

I belive that they should coordinate clothes because the colours are very similiar...I think Kate could innovate a bit more, but to me until know she was always a winner, her clothes are very elegant...not very modern, btu she is a Princess not a fashion model...:flowers:
