I wonder if the unwritten rule that the King (or more realistically, the Government) may not remove peerages without an Act of Parliament being enacted will be affected by the removal of the hereditary peers' seats from the House of Lords at the end of this session.

Once the hereditary peers no longer enjoy any special rights to participate in Parliament, it could be argued that Parliament no longer has any interest in regulating who is or is not a hereditary peer (this argument has already been used to argue against peerage succession reform), and so the monarch/government should be able to remove hereditary peerages without involving Parliament.

As I understand, wives sharing the titles and styles of their husbands is a principle of English common law that does not extend to husbands sharing the titles and styles of their wives. Constitutionally, the King cannot change the law by himself; only Parliament has that prerogative. This was enshrined in the English Bill of Rights of 1689, following the Revolution of 1688, and was the basis for the separation of the executive and legislative powers that later also influenced the US constitution.

Buckingham Palace concurred with your view of this matter in correspondence with Baroness Deech (who raised this issue in the House of Lords in 2016, and again a few weeks ago):

I speak for hundreds of Dames who have husbands and dozens of noble Baronesses who have spouses. It is not a trivial matter that our spouses do not share our titles, whereas it works the other way around. I was in correspondence with Buckingham Palace about this a long time ago, having tried in this House. The Palace told me it was a matter of property and a very serious matter, and that only if Parliament willed it could titles be changed so there would be equality.
