State Visit from the Sultanate of Oman: December 3 - 4, 2024

The Sultan of Oman will pay a state visit to Belgium at the invitation of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde from December 3 - 4, 2024, it was announced today:

​

His Majesty the Sultan of Oman will pay a state visit to Belgium at the invitation of Their Majesties the King and Queen. This visit will reflect the excellent relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Belgium, and will be an important step in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between our two countries. The program will include three components: a protocol and diplomatic component, a component focused on port and energy cooperation, and a component devoted to cultural cooperation, defense, the biopharmaceutical sector and space.

The day of 3 December will begin with a welcoming ceremony on the Place des Palais in Brussels. It will continue with a working lunch between the King, Queen and Sultan and a visit to the Brussels City Hall. It will finally end with a state banquet at the Château de Laeken. On the morning of 4 December, the King and Sultan will visit the Port House in Antwerp for an exchange on the port and energy cooperation that exists between different partners of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and the Port of Duqm and their future prospects. The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is an active pioneer in the hydrogen sector and aims to occupy a leading position as a European centre for importing green energy from countries with a surplus of wind and solar energy, such as Oman. In February 2022, the King and Queen paid an official visit to Oman as part of the Belgian-Omani cooperation on green hydrogen.

The state visit will conclude with a thematic lunch at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo on the themes of defence, the biopharmaceutical sector and space.

Not at all. There have been more spectacular welcome ceremonies for other Heads of State.
This is low-key as it just a one/quasi two day visit. Which hopefully won't become the norm.

I think it is the best , if Laurent and Astrid were present, again a claim from Dephine.
