An FYI.

The Regent Couple have actually dressed down for the occasion.
Because the Egyptian President wear a suit - rather than a gala uniform.
As such King Frederik is wearing the mess-uniform.
And Queen Mary a less opulent dress, so to speak. And also fewer jewels.

- Even though Queen Mary's dress may be inspired by winter - dark dress with white snowflakes - it's nevertheless merely a way of dressing down for the occasion.

Wow...Queen Mary pulled out a dress that she has not worn in years!! I think she's only worn it once before this!

That makes sense. I noticed it looked she is not wearing her Grand Commander cross...only her family order.

So it seems Benedikte did not get the Memo. Or why is she wearing her biggest tiara then

the mess uniform works very well, can't say im disappointed : )

Funny moment! one of the generals did not shake hands with the ladies until Benedikte stuck out her hand. Mary and Marie shared a laugh.

Parts and video of the speeches. Frederik mentioned his father's connection to Egypt

He's the adjutant to the President.

Because she hasn't got anything smaller at hand? Our Marie also wear a tiara bigger than Queen Mary's.

And in case you are not aware of it: These photos can be downloaded at "mediebanken" (under the caption, with the arrow) in very high quality. That should be of interest to those who wish to have a more detailed look at jewelry, dresses and what no. The photos can also be uploaded on (non-profit) fora like this, provided you credit the DRF.

I notice our Marie had the Foreign Minister to her left. According to reports in the press his wife got drunk at another gala in connection with the Icelandic state visit and was escorted out of the room, to recover on a chair...
But it is not possible to avoid inviting a foreign minister, who is also party-leader in a coalition government.

I have a feeling that such situations happen more often than we think.

Benedikte has 2 smaller tiaras. Her floral tiara and the pearl and star tiara. Marie only has this one

Additional photos. And I stand corrected, she is wearing the Grand Commander Cross. I cannot tell which brooch she is wearing.

The President has done the traditional signing of a window pane. Thus, marking the end of the Egyptian State Visit to Denmark. I will not be shocked if everyone is breathing a sigh of relief that all went well and this State Visit is in the books.

King Frederik and Queen Mary did an stellar job hosting what could well be called a very sensitive and delicate State Visit. This visit felt very different from the other visits they've done this year, both incoming and outgoing. This one was all business and much more hinging on the formality of everything. That their majesties and their court were tasked with this type of visit during their first year as the royal couple says quite alot in their favor in my opinion. IMO this was quite a heavy visit for new monarch and they handled it all with det aplomb. Congratulations on a job well done!

It was a sensitive state visit but Frederik and Mary are pros.
They are. They've been actually handling a large portion of state visits for years so all that training is evident now as the royal couple. Like a said, they and their team are surely exhaling with relief right now.
