Spanish Royal Family Summer Holidays: 2023 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I like Letizia's white linen wear. It's the comfortable style for a summer dinner in Madrid.

These two are, for me, doing what a modern monarchy is about. Working hard in their institutional roles while able to enjoy a dinner, a movie or shopping trip as a couple like everyone else.

King Felipe VI visits the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup facilities and the regatta course.

Visit to the “Nou Port Olímpic” in Barcelona:

July 28 - Audiences of King Felipe with the authorities of the Balearic Islands at the Almudaina Palace.

July 29 - Audience of King Felipe with the President of the Government at Marivent Palace.

August 2 - King Felipe presents the trophies for the 43rd Copa del Rey-Mapfre Sailing Regatta

August 3 - Queen Letizia closes the 15th edition of the “Atlántida Mallorca Film Fest”

It is not yet on the official agenda, but the reception for Balearic society is scheduled for August 4 at the Marivent Palace, and there is speculation that Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía may attend for the first time.

King Felipe set out today for training aboard the Aifos, the Spanish Navy's iconic TP52, in the waters of the Bay of Palma.

Did they get rid of their boats that you use to seem them pictured on during the summer holidays? One was sizeable and the other a lot smaller

I assume neither Leonor or Sofia have interest in sailing like their father?

The large yacht "Fortuna" was part of Patrimonio Nacional and was sold years ago because Juan Carlos renounced its use at the end of his reign. The small boat, the Somni, was lent/rented by a friend of Juan Carlos and Sofia, and Queen Sofia, who used it, no longer uses it.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia have rented boats in recent years, for family outings or so the girls can sail quietly with their friends... but far from the regattas and the dozens of photographers.

The issue isn't whether they like sailing or not... the issue is whether it becomes an obligation. King Juan Carlos liked sailing, and he created a huge business around the Copa del Rey de Vela, bringing together celebrities, sponsors, and the press. In the end, it became a circus, and practically an obligation for members of the Royal Family. Felipe is still "tied" to that model, but Letizia and the girls have been distancing themselves, because they know they'll want to turn it into a lifelong obligation for them.

Leonor has spent the year sailing; this year the press was already pressuring her to participate on one of the Navy ships, but I think the Royal Family is aware that if she does it for a year, there will be pressure to keep her doing it forever.

The king and his sister the Infanta Elena seem to be the only current sailing enthusiasts.
His late uncle King Constantine II also enjoyed sailing.

Elena has never been a sailing enthusiast... it was Cristina who competed for many years and participated in the Seoul Olympics. Elena has never competed, and if she's been seen following a regatta in Palma in recent years, it's probably because the company she works for is the main sponsor.

According to El Debate, Leonor and Sofía were at a nightclub in Mallorca on Tuesday with a group of friends.

King Felipe VI had a big scare this morning! Fortunately, it was just a scare.

What happened , an injury?

The Queen, the Princess of Asturias, and Infanta Sofía made a surprise visit to Palma's Rívoli cinema on Thursday evening to watch the documentary "En un lugar de la mente" (In a Place in the Mind), by Pep Bonet. This reinterpretation of Don Quixote from the perspective of people with mental illnesses offers an original approach to madness, imagination, and identity. The film is also directed by amateur actors from Palma who have been diagnosed with mental illness.

They watched a documentary during the screenings at the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest. The protagonists are people with mental health issues from Mallorca who use theater as therapy. Queen Letizia participated in the post-film discussion, and the three greeted the cast at the end.
