Summer is coming to Solliden

Solliden Palace published this beautiful evening light photo at its social media:

At Ölandsmagazinet's Summer issue:
Artist Viktor Norén's performance at Solliden Sessions 2023 was a success. This summer, Viktor returns to Solliden: a place that is his image of summer Sweden.
- The concert at Solliden was one of the summer's highlights, and I'm looking forward to this year's gig. When my brother Gustaf and I started touring, we realized how important the venue itself is to the outcome of the concert. It's like the audience and the artist create deeper memories if the concert venue is beautiful, and the more beautiful the venue, the better the concert. As an artist, you want to convey something beautiful with the music, and when the place is at least as beautiful, everything clicks. I experienced exactly that feeling when we played at Solliden last summer.
Such a place and feeling arouses a strong desire to play, even outside the concert, which also happened when they were given a guided tour through Solliden's parks. They took their instruments with them to the tour and played. Viktor tells that it was an absolutely incredible feeling, it almost became its own little concert. He felt that this is a place that he wants to return to and is happy and grateful that they can come back this year (July 28).

This year we are collaborating with The May Flower Association. Among other things, we have a new flower bed with a May flower theme, which every year will get the colors from that year's May flower. As a complement to the real plants, @starrensanna has created these fantastic May flowers in tin in collaboration with @eabdethaller
The children who visit Solliden can go on a treasure hunt and look for May flowers. At each May flower there is a stamp that the children collect to finally be able to look in the treasure chest. There is also a short event with a year linked to children's rights described next to each May flower that the children find.
The May Flower collects money by having children and volunteers throughout Sweden participate in the sale of May flowers every spring. Children who live in families where the money is not enough can apply for financial aid support. First to buy May flowers is always H.M. The queen who is the patron of May Flower.

Aftonbladet has a large article about Solliden Palace:

Few have seen the inside of Solliden Palace, as it is the King's private property, it has been described as the royal family's best kept secret.
Property manager Kjell Jonasson has worked nearly 40 years at Solliden. In the 9th grade, he got an internship in the garden and has stayed ever since. Apart from the royal family, he probably knows the palace the best. Knows all its secrets. When he started, the princesses and the prince were children. It has been natural to work with them. Now they are adults and have children in turn. The relationship with the royal family is professional. He gets very close, but they are his bosses. It's all about trust when you work there.
You enter a large parade hall with wooden panels. Inside the hall is the dining room, a living room, and a small tea room. On the ground floor is the kitchen, and on the upper floor there are bedrooms and several guest rooms. The attic floor houses staff quarters and a laundry room. In the book "100 years of Swedish furniture..." are photos from the living room, the so-called Swedish rooms: one green and one blue. A green carpet runs through both rooms. The green room has green walls. In the blue room, the focus is on the blue sofa. There is also a TV room. Jonasson says that in some places, time stands still. It's original.
The park has around 70,000 visitors every year. They see only 10% of Solliden's 90 hectares. The interaction between tourism and private life works well, there has never been a problem. No high fences or barbed wire. The only thing separating the palace from the tourists are thin chains and small signs, which visitors sometimes miss. Between the bushes is a tennis court. Operations manager Caroline Thaysen tells that the royals have played there sometimes when she has passed by with a group. Jonasson says that the king is proud of Solliden and wants to show it off. Sometimes the king comes out in front of the palace and surprises the visitors.
The private area consists of pasture for the horses staying during the summer, as well as chickens and fallow deer. There are also machine halls, garages, offices, coffee rooms, storages and greenhouses. And houses:
Villa Skönvik: Victoria and Daniel's house, built in 2013.
Kavaljershuset: Built before the palace. Madeleine and Carl Philip live with their families in the house.
The boat house: A 100 square meter building by the Kalmar Strait.
If the king is in place, the three-pronged flag is raised, i.e. the flag with the large national coat of arms. If Victoria is there, the flag with the small national coat of arms flies from the pole.
- It is much bigger than a normal house. But it's much simpler than you think. It is a summer villa. But yes, it is an exciting house. This is a place that... if you understand it, it's magical, Jonasson says.

That is Kavaljershuset, the house where Carl Philip, Madeleine and their families stay when they are at Solliden. It's built in 1902.

Täppan – Rickard Söderberg’s Allotment Garden
June 28 – September 28 (work in progress from May 8)
Location: Gustaf V’s old croquet court, Solliden

In the spring, Gustaf V’s old croquet court will be transformed back into a lovely allotment garden. This year, it is opera singer and allotment garden lover Rickard Söderberg who will recreate his garden dream on Solliden.
“My allotment garden is a place that can be experienced with all the senses and where nature itself dictates the conditions. Here, the scent of sun-warmed spices meets the sound of bumblebees, dewy grass tickles the feet and sun-ripened berries offer sweet surprises. Here, every weed has its charm, every flower its own story. There are no perfect flower beds here, just a garden that grows and lives – just like us humans. I hope that my garden can inspire visitors to let go, find joy in the little things and enjoy what is not perfect – but what just is.”
The exhibition will be officially opened by H.M. The King on 28 June.

Awakening – this year's exhibition in Engelska parken
By Amanda Lund Socia and Beck Lund Socia
In the exhibition Awakening, we are presented with unique glass art embedded in the greenery of nature.
The exhibition, which will be on display in Engelska parken throughout the season, was created by Amanda Lund Socia and Beck Lund Socia. They are both educated at the National Glass School in Nybro and have previously worked for Orrefors Kosta Boda. Today they are affiliated with Orranäs Glasbruk. In 2021, Amanda received the Ulrica Hydman Vallien scholarship.
Awakening will be the artists' first major joint exhibition and we at Solliden Palace are very proud to be able to present these "rising stars" in the glass art sky.

Solliden Palace:
"Big thanks to Capellagården's garden students who have been helping to start the work on this year's allotment garden this week, which this time is designed by Rickard Söderberg @gaytenor
Together we also got a fantastic lesson in how to build a fenced yard from Ingemar and Camilla.
From May 8 you can follow how the allotment garden is growing and the official opening will be on June 30."
