Not as Princess Marie Christine of Belgium with her Canadian Husband , separation after 3 weeks !

Can't say I'm surprised by the Austrian divorce. The impression I got from the beginning was that the bride to be was a social climber of sorts from a family with "embellished" noble background.

She was already part of the social circle around various reigning and non reigning royal houses for over 10 years. This whole "fake title" discussion is largely something that exists on social media. I mean, it was one of her ancestors who started using a title that's fake or contested to say the least, but it's not something she herself invented. It's been around for several generations now, and it's old news.
For a marriage to end so soon there's usually a very different reason, something that really breaks up your relationship: violence, infidelity ... You name it, not hazy stuff like titles among titled people.

A post about the false nobility of the Rumiantzoff family has been moved HERE.

Bruno Alejandro Gómez-Acebo y Borbón (b.15 July 1971) [son of Infanta Pilar of Spain (1936-2020) & her husband Luis Gomez-Acebo, Viscount de la Torre (1934-1991)] & his wife Bárbara Cano de la Plaza (b. 20 March 1972) [daughter of Antonio Cano y Villajos & his wife María del Carmen de la Plaza y Donoso] have just announced they are separated.

They got married in 2002 and have three sons: Alejandro Juan (b. 5 November 2004), Guillermo (b. 23 November 2005) & Álvaro (b. 30 May 2011).

Considering she was a no show to her MIL's funeral, pretty obvious this was coming.

Surprised even if separated she didn't attend funeral. Married 19 years, would think you'd still attend that type of event for the family.
Going to the funeral would be the right thing to do, but maybe her husband or his family didn't want her there.
