DOHA: Rota Board member Sheikha Aisha Al Thani and Rota Director Essa Al Mannai both personally handed the gifts of appreciation to the different partners including Qatar First Investment Bank, Al Meera, The One and Dhreima for their support to make the Ramadan campaign a big success.

She also underscored the role of media for spreading the message of Ramadan to Qatar and the world. “You have shown the world that Qatar is truly a giving, charitable country, built on the foundations of equality and justice for all,” Sheikah Aisha said.

HH the Emir Holds Meetings in New York

New York, September 22 (QNA) - HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on Thursday met at The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in New York a number of heads of delegations of States participating in the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

HH the Emir also met Chairman of Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) Mustafa Abdul Jalil, the Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.

HH the Emir of Qatar Leaves New York

New York , September 23 (QNA) - HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani left New York on Friday night after participating in the 66th UN General assembly session. HH the Emir was accompanied by HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah as well as a high-level official delegation.
 
Qatar International Equestrian Festival Begins Thursday

Paris, September 28 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HH Special Adviser to HH the Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani Qatar International Equestrian Festival begins tomorrow, Thursday, in the French capital Paris. The four-day event has several activities and is organized in the framework of the partnership between the Racing and Equestrian Club in Qatar and France Gallup in France. In the presence of a number of horse owners and breeders, the festival will begin with horse auction to take place in the auction hall in San Claude where dozens of horses will on offer for sale.

Arc ‘big achievement’ for Qatari owners

Racing and Equestrian Club chairman Sheikh Mohammed bin Faleh al-Thani thanked HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani for attending and making the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and the Qatar Arabian World Cup races a huge success at the Longchamp race course in Paris on Sunday. The day included two of the world’s most prestigious races and the presence of HH the Emir added to the success of the closing day.
“It was a huge honour to have had HH the Emir at the races. The racing festival was a big success and this would not have been possible without the support to HH the Emir and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to equestrian sports in general and the REC in particular,” Sheikh Mohammed told Gulf Times.
“We are also grateful to the Special Adviser to the Emir HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani for his support and guidance to organise this festival, which has put Qatar on the global map,” Sheikh Mohamed added.

Doha, October 05 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani met here Wednesday morning at his Emiri Diwan office HE Jordanian Ambassador Ahmed Jalal Al Mefleh and HE Moroccan Ambassador to Qatar Abdulazeem Altaber on the occasion of the expiry of their tenure in Qatar.

HH the Emir also wished the outgoing Ambassadors success in their future assignment and further progress and prosperity to relations between Qatar and their countries. Pledge to fund new airport construction

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani will fund the building of a new airport in the city of Zentan in western Libya, Doha’s Arabic newspapers reported yesterday. This was disclosed by members of a delegation representing Libya’s Zentan tribes visiting Doha. The 17-member delegation met with HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on Thursday.

QU department holds English book fair

DOHA: Qatar University (QU) Foundation Programme Department of English (FPDE) organised its second Foundation English Book Fair recently. The two-day event was aimed to promote reading and to encourage students to develop a taste for reading on a variety of topics.

Syria must stop killings: Emir

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has stressed the need to stop the killings in Syria, QNA reported yesterday.
The Emir told Al Jazeera television network that “there is an Arab action towards what is happening now in Syria,” adding “naturally the Arab countries and the Arab League are on the move... what is now required concerning the situation in Syria is to stop the killings and find a room for the people to discuss the matter among themselves and refrain from the almost daily killing.

Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Appeals for End to Bloodletting in Syria

Cairo, October 16 (QNA) -HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani has appealed for an early end to the ongoing violence and bloodletting in Syria, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
Addressing an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of foreign ministers on Sunday, he said the ministers were meeting in regrettable and very critical circumstances.
