The Ski World Championships are back in Trondheim and the Trøndelag region, last time was in 1997. The world championship will be held from 26 February to 9 March 2025

King Harald has already confirmed to NRK that he and the Queen is going. Cp Haakon is a member of the advisorary main comitee so I guess he will also be there and since it overlaps with the wintervaction Ingrid and Sverre will probably come as well, it says the royal family have confirmed their attendance here, anything else would be a major supprise.

We also know the finnish president and first lady are invited personally by the King to see their best medal chance on March 4th (mens 10 km classic) and it would also be very supprising if not the Swedish royals also came for some days.

I fully expect the swedish royals to attend as well… The King always attends the Ski World Championchips for some days, often accompanied by The Queen…

Since it’s in Trondheim wich is not far from Storlien where the Swedish RF has their winter cabin lodge, and the 1:st week overlaps with the winter vacation for Estelle and Oscar, i wouldn’t be surprised if Victoria, Daniel, Estelle and Oscar will attend the 1:st week, and then The King and Queen attends the 2:nd week…

The Swedish Royal Court has updated to its calendar about the royals attending the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships:

February 27
The King

March 8-9
The Crown Princess, prince Daniel

The program for the NRF has been anounced, no Astrid, Ingrid or Sverre, atleast for Ingrid I hope it changes or they really understand nothing of the sitation they are in at the moment.

It could be that Ingrid are still in the military and is unable to attend… But Magnus is not and should be able to accompany his parents…

For Princess Astrid it is probably a ”day-to-day” decision if she attends, given that she is 93…

She is in the military out March atleast, but unless there are special exercises the conscripts usually have saturday and sunday of, and if she, the future Queen, whos job it is to love🥰 cross country competitions, asked for a couple of the days more for this event which is very special for Norwegians, she would surly get it.

I dont expect princess Astrid to attend anything any more really, every event is a bonus, but this is the kind of event she usually loves🥰

And Mette-Marit only the bare minimum, the weekends when the swedish royals are there. The NRF really is a one man show more or less, and I guess it will be so for the next 5years atleast.

Will only the Norwegian royals or other nordic royals will attend

The King of Sweden will be there today, and Victoria and Daniel will be there over next weekend

Queen Sonja, King Carl Gustaf, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit

It is almost a bit odd seeing them in public given the circumstances but sport has a way of bringing people together

It was fantastic to see Johannes Høsflot Klæbo winning the men's sprint, he is from Trondheim and lives about 7 km from the Granåsen Ski Centre. It was his 6th consecutive gold medal in sprint at World Championships and Olympic Games (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025).
Johannes got a hug from Queen Sonja and was photographed with the royals with Jonna Sundling, the winner of women's sprint:

This morning, February 28, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the event Dream Day for Children and Youth in Granåsen:

The moving Images from today with theese young kids with different challenges take part in tv series where a former olympic Champion has been training them to ski the world championship tracks, and today they managed and was invited to the royal stand like all other champions, very moving and 9000 school children were there to see them.

If Johannes Klabo gets a cold Queen Sonja can not show her face in Trondheim again, she asked for the hug whilst Klabo has famously said he has not hugged his girlfriend or family for months to avoid getting sick, and all the press asked him why he did it when The Queen has been with the King who has a cold. He said it was fast so it was probably OK.

Wonderful to see all the people at the stadium and at the city center

Today, Queen Sonja is present during the men's 20 km skiathlon in Granåsen.

What a great photo of the Queen and Johannes, when he was going to meet her the NRK reporters were worrying she would hug him again, but it seems she read the many press articles, and she did not hug him and he greeted her with his gloves on, he also did not hug his girlfriend.

The Queen is at the medal ceremony at the pre concert with Aage Aleksandersen concert, really getting in to the Trønder-spirit.

It must be difficult at times to control ones emotions, it is so common especially when one does not see one another for long stretches of time to immediately go in for handshake or hug. At least it was quick and no illness passes around.

King Harald arrived to Trondheim yesterday evening and it was fired 21 shots from Kristiansen fortress for his arrival at 19:15
He and the Queen is now in the stadium now for the womens 20 km, he and his wife got a great but cheer when they arrived
Kjendisdøgnet - Her er han

No doubt hoping for a reprise of this very famous moment from 2011 with our cross country Queen Therese Johaug har come back from retirement after having a child. But the swedish ladies looks strong.
