Haakon is surely glad for the distraction and can also be pleased with his country's athletes. Norway is in first place with a total of 22 medals, 11 of them gold.

Great gold for Norway! Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is now the all-time gold-medal leader in the history of the Winter Olympics. The gold medal today was his fourth at Milano Cortina 2026, Klæbo has now won nine gold medals in the Winter Olympics, more than any other athlete in history. The other gold medalists are Emil Iversen, Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget and Einar Hedegart.

YES!!! 🇳🇴🥇🔥
What a show of power by the Norwegian men's national team at the Olympic relay!
And Johannes Høsflot Klæbo! The Winter Olympian of all time! 👑

King Carl Gustaf congratulated the Swedish women's cross country skiing relay team for their silver medal at a video call on Saturday evening:
Is this the best conversation ever?
Earlier this evening, the relay team received a call from the King.
After the silver medal was won, His Majesty was quick to personally congratulate Ebba, Frida, Jonna and Linn.
We can sum up the conversation as 10 points.
🇸🇪🔥 Do like the King, continue to cheer up the Olympic squad - become the Olympic Swede.

Wonderful to see the Princely family at the Winter Olympics ,the twins are hopefully not too cold!
Princess Charlene and Prince Albert joined by grinning twins, 11, for rare family appearance at the Olympics
Thank you for posting this. I saw Albert presenting medals for the Skeleton and had no idea the whole family were there. It’s great to see the twins being taken to these occasions which the are likely to be attending as representatives of the Princely Family in years to come.

Don't have a photo, but German tv station ARD mentioned P.Albert of Monaco is currently at the 2-men bobsleigh final tonight

I think that has got to be a mistake. Even if he were still young and fit enough to compete, which with respect he is most certainly not, bobsleigh is such a dangerous sport. He is now the ruling Prince & father to a young family, I can’t see anyone would support such a venture. Perhaps the translation refers to his previous endeavours as a young man. Monaco continues to have a strong representation in this sport, so it may also be referring to his support for the current team.

:previous:I rather understood that Lee-Z meant Prince Albert had been seen watching the 2-men bobsleigh final, not participating in it.

Today, February 18, he presented the medals after women's biathlon 4x6km relay event:

Are there any Thai athletes at the Olympics? If so, why is she visiting this particular match instead of spending time with the Thai athletes? Or is she just passing by at the Olympics because they were in the king's (relatively) nearby place in/near Munich?

I've had a look and found out that she is the Ambassador for Promoting Women's Ice Hockey of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 2024.
Therefore the President of the IIHF has invited her to attend the ice hockey matches from February 18 on:

Thanks! In that case her presence makes sense. Although I wonder why they asked her for the role of Ambassador.

King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and Princess Eleonore will attend the games today and tomorrow.

Today they attended the Speed Skating Women's 1500 Final and attended a reception:

I was thinking that Daniel might take the children with him, they have the sports holiday next week.

When Daniel was at the Olympics on February 11, he had wished to have a lunch with goaltender and Olympic champion Henrik Lundqvist, who works as an TV-expert at the Olympics.
TV4 commentator Lasse Granqvist reveals in a podcast that Daniel left a request for a lunch with Henrik Lundqvist, and Granqvist was also invited. At the lunch Granqvist was really surprised by one thing, he couldn't help but laugh when he realized how incredibly interested Daniel is in sports, especially ice hockey.
– I have to say one thing: Prince Daniel's interest in sports is colossal! Wow! And what he can do! He started discussing with Henrik Lundqvist what the scouting activities of the New York Rangers are really like, because they almost always fail with their first pick in the draft.
Besides Granqvist, general secretary of the Swedish Olympic Committee Åsa Edlund Jönsson and Frida Hansdotter (Olympic champion and Daniel's second cousin) attended the lunch and asked Daniel and Lundqvist to widen their discus a bit: "Excuse me, can we lower the level of knowledge in the discussion?", says Granqvist with a smile.

Aftonbladet interviewed Victoria after Ebba Andersson's victory, she said that i’s absolutely fantastic. What an incomparable effort. Absolutely.
Did we see some tears?
– Yes. I’m so incredibly happy for Ebba.
Why specifically for Ebba?
– What an achievement, also considering previous experiences at the Olympics that perhaps didn’t turn out as she had imagined and hoped. To be able to make up for it in this way. It’s so right! It’s absolutely fantastic.
Victoria also highlights how idols like Ebba Andersson actually make a difference for Sweden.
– There have been great achievements, great Olympics. We have so much to be proud of and happy about. Great role models and I feel incredibly happy to have these role models. Not only are they fantastically good at their sports, but I also think about the young generation and hope and believe that this spurs and triggers. It will be good.
Victoria is involved in children's movement. What an importance this type of role model has?
– They mean a lot and we see that after great successes, that there is a wave of interest among children and young people too. You should not underestimate that.

..and very good chance they will see a gold medal for Sweden today, because Ebba Anderson is currently in front after 36 km (although with a 50 km event, ofcourse a lot can happen).
Also: Sweden is in the curling final (women), so guaranteed medal there too

Its a shame that we had no Spanish Royal presence at the games and Spain won 3 medals.

A review shared today about Grand Duke Henri's attendance at the games during the past weeks:

Kjeld Nuis, one of the Dutch Olympic medal winners (and previous Olympic champion) discussed the royal visit during the Olympics on tv and shared that when they were taking group pictures at the Olympic rings, a random person walked up to the king to ask whether he could take a picture (of that random person) in front of the rings. Willem-Alexander happily obliged - and that random person probably still has no clue that his picture was taken by a king.
