King WIllem II built a strange Neo Gothic Palace in Tilburg. After his death the palace was sold by his heirs and a school was located in it for a while. At the moment the building serves as the city hall of Tilburg

It was sad to learn that Willem II did not live in Tilbury Palace.
He died on March 17, 1849.
The building of the palace was not completed until 22 days later.

Oh but he lived there,in Tilburg,allright,not completed or not.And he passed away there.Anna Pawlowna didn't take a liking let alone love to it at all.It's a strange concoction of a place,and nothing compared to Anna's childhood homes,the grand Russian Palaces.This was but a mere "cabin" .Most Dutch palaces were small compared to Anna's liking.Still,she did love "Rustenburg" ,where she passed away too."Rustenburg" is gone now too,it made way to the present day Peace Palace.

Construction of the palace was commissioned by King William II of the Netherlands, who placed the cornerstone on 13 August 1847. The king wanted to have a country residence in Tilburg.
In 1931 the palace was donated to Tilburg municipality by the Dutch royal family.
