She wore her Veil in her hands for inside , Why not wearing it like the Other Royals
And once again, oh dear!Maria Teresa at the funeral of Pope Francis today, not her nicest black dress especially as to the transparent sleeves and the belt:

Maybe she lost the fixing pin. So she knew that while walking it vale will slip. When she is sat inside, it doesn't move. She wore her Veil in her hands for inside , Why not wearing it like the Other Royals
A lot of non royal watchers would find it hard to believe she was the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. And once again, oh dear!
I get her need to be cool and trendy. But M-T's need to make a break from the traditions and norms she was subject to in her decades of public life does indeed throw up some odd sartorial choices!
Again no mantillaA nice look in white for Grand Duchess Maria Teresa at the inauguration mass of Pope Leo today:

The belt and length are excessive. No mantilla which is a shame.A nice look in white for Grand Duchess Maria Teresa at the inauguration mass of Pope Leo today:

I don’t get it either. She clearly knows the protocol, but it seems she intentionally chooses not to follow it or only partially does so. I’m not sure what’s happened in recent years, but some of her fashion choices have been rather odd. Anyway, since this isn’t a protocol thread, I’ll just leave it at that.Again no mantilla
The Grand Duchess was the only Catholic Royal woman who didn't cover her head-same as the funeral of Pope Francis.Again no mantilla
She used the Privilege du blanc.. but her own version..which is a shame.I can't believe MT's two awful looks for her last two big international engagements as Grand Duchess. Especially when her husband is the very image of elegance.
Given the Grand Duchess’s unique interpretation of the dress code where she skipped the veil for both the funeral and the inauguration, I almost forgot how casual the dress looked. Maybe I have just lowered the bar and now think anything white is acceptable for her at papal inaugurations or audiences. That said, I am quite relieved the Grand Duke is stepping down soon. If she had remained Grand Duchess, I would not be surprised if she ended up ignoring the privilege du blanc entirely at future papal events.Apart from the veil, the dress is not formal enough for this occassion. It would be lovely for walking on the boulevard of Biarritz, but this occassion requires something less casual.
Well said.Grand Duchess Maria Teresa is too cool for school and looked like she was attending an evening garden party and not a Papal Mass.
She hasn't been following protocol to the letter for some time now. It is a shame.Grand Duchess Maria Teresa is too cool for school and looked like she was attending an evening garden party and not a Papal Mass.

She checked off Natan, Bottega, and Prada but forgot the lace. Budget must have run out.And our trend setting GD wore an icy cut-out dress by Natan paired with a Bottega Veneta clutch and Prada's 'Logo-Plaque 55 Powder Pink Patent Leather Pumps'.
The 4 royal ladies with 'privilège du blanc' at Pope Leo XIV's inauguration - and who was banned
And yet they got it so wrong for the event!
