The family shared photos of taking the Christmas tree home today, January 6.

It was the " first time in history [that] three generations of Karađorđević participated in the cutting of the badnjak, in the same place":

On Christmas morning, together with my son and grandson, HRH Crown Prince Filip and Prince Stefan, I cut the Christmas tree, respecting the centuries-old Serbian tradition, and we brought it in front of the Royal Palace, where we were welcomed by my daughter-in-law and granddaughter HRH Princess Danica and HRH Princess Marija.

This morning, we cut the badnjak in the forest of the Royal Complex. Together - grandfather, son, and grandson.
For the first time in history, three generations of Karađorđević participated in the cutting of the badnjak, in the same place, in a custom that transcends time and connects the past with the future. It was not just a moment of family gathering, but a symbol of the continuity of the Karađorđević Dynasty that our history has not recorded until now.

The badnjak is a quiet, but firm bond between the hearth and the people, the land and the faith. As we carried it toward the Royal Palace, we also carried the memory of all those who, in more difficult times, preserved this custom as a pledge of endurance. In front of the Royal Palace, we were greeted by my wife, Princess Danica, and daughter, Princess Marija, throwing wheat at us as a symbol of life, fertility, and hope. These moments remind us that the strength of a people is not measured only by power, but by loyalty to the roots, family, and custom.
In a world that is changing ever faster, it is our responsibility to preserve what makes us who we are. By preserving customs, we preserve ourselves. By preserving faith, we preserve the future.

Happy Badnji dan.
