Royal Family of Norway

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I wish they could publish translated version of the books to English especially so I could read on Crown Prince Haskon and Crown princess Mette marit and other Norwegian Royalty.

New book about the Royal Palace, Oslo

Hi,

There is a new book out about the Royal Castle in Oslo. The book has stories about what went on during late 70's when King Olav V was still the Norwegian King. There is also fun stories about Miss Cooper, a small British woman that was chamber maid for the late Queen Maud.

The book also tells stories on how it was to stay with the royals at both Kongssetra, the place where the Norwegian royals stay during Christmas and New Year, as well as Bygdø Kongsgård, their summer holiday place i Oslo.

The book is tittled "Residens Drammensveien 1" and are for now written only in Norwegian, but hopefully it will also come out in English.

By Royal Castle are you referring to the Royal Palace in Oslo?

Hi, yes that's right, which is in Norwegian "Det Kongelige Slott". The book tittle "Residens Drammensveien 1" is the old address of the Royal Palace in Oslo. It was later on changed to Henrik Ibsens gate 1 in 2006 and then in 2012 changed to Slottsplassen. :flowers:

An anonymous "famous author", who is supposed to be part of the circle around the royal family, has secretly written a satirical novel based on the autumn's scandals surrounding the royal house.
Managing director Alexander Even Henriksen of the publishing house Bonnier tells VG about the author behind the book "King Durek and the Pharaoh's Curse":
- I sincerely hope that the person in question is not revealed, because it could be embarrassing.
The book is simply published under the pseudonym Anonymous and is already on sale this week.
- Behind the pseudonym Anonym hides a well-known author who is in the circle around the royal family and the royal house. The book is not true, but based on the truth.
In the book, the reader meets both Durek and Märtha, Marius Borg Høiby, the crown prince couple - and the king and queen. Also people such as Venstre leader Guri Melby, Aftenposten editor Trine Eilertsen and crime writer Anne Holt.

Durek is currently spending his days in Los Angeles, but has nevertheless caught up with the book launch and had a comment:
- The grossly exaggerated caricature of Durek Verrett with racist stereotypes and undertones on the cover of the book is offensive, even in satire, says Verrett to Nettavisen, via his PR advisor Jenni Weinman.

If you want to get your hands on a copy of "King Durek and the Pharaoh's Curse", you should act now!
- This is a book we knew would be a hot topic, and we took that into account when we decided on the size of the print run. But we have clearly underestimated the readers' appetite, because now the print run is almost empty, and we will not have time to print any more books before Christmas, says editorial director Anne Fløtaker.

What is so special about this book that you recommend us to hurry to a store to get this book, LadyFinn?

Perhaps "King Durek and the Pharaoh's Curse" is a way to further alert the King he needs to strip ML of her title by making fun of and belittling the NRF through the use of satire.

I have heard about that book, but I am not sure if is "real". It might just be a satirical internet thing and is not a real book. At least I didn't find it on Amazon where usually you find all the newest books published. His "Spirit Hacking" book you can buy in almost all languages.

It's published by the Norwegian branch of the biggest publishing house in Scandinavia, Bonniers.

@hereditarytitles
Here it is Kong Durek og faraoens forbannelse
It doesn't seem to be translated so that probably why you cant find it on Amazon.

Well, the caption on the book says it's a tall tale about the Norwegian monarchy being in danger, ostensibly from a republican conspiracy of some sort with Durek the Hero coming to the rescue.
- I understand from other sources that pretty much all NRF members are mentioned (Marius too), as well as a number of Norwegian politicians and other leading figures.

But I have been unable to find more details, so I guess we will have to wait for the reviews. I have seen a number of readers comments in papers mentioning two or three Norwegian authors by name as possible candidates behind the book.

The open question is of course whether this presents Durek as a hero, albeit in a perhaps somewhat lighthearted way or whether the book presents Dure as the "hero" in way that is so over the top that it's a satire (basically mocking) on ML and her Durek.

If the author is believed to be someone in inner court circles, why would Verrett be the hero? That would seem to be a most republican argument.

Or someone who feeds the author with info, who is or used to be in the inner circle around the NRF. And that can be anyone from a friend, to a divorced spouse of a friend, to an employee, to a senior politician. It could for that matter also be Durek and ML themselves.
Durek the Hero would be a somewhat humorous promotion of ML and Durek as perhaps a Dynamic Duo.
Durek the "hero" would be a satire aimed at of course Durek himself, but probably also the NRF. Because to be honest the NRF this year alone had provided enough material to write several satirical books about them!

I found this description of the book in "Businessportal Norwegen"". The authors names are not being published. As we all assume it is a satirical story about Norwegian members of "high society" including members of the NRF as well as politicians.

Hope is available in English
Per article on the fictional book:

"King Durek and the Curse of the Pharaoh"
The monarchy is ready to be hacked, and a secret organization of politicians, journalists, and financiers is trying to get rid of the Norwegian royal family once and for all.
"King Durek and the Curse of the Pharaoh" is a scandalous novel about the royal family, written by someone who is inside.
