HRH PRINCE SIMEON-HASAN RECEIVES FIRST COMMUNION IN THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX TEMPLE “RESURRECTION OF CHRIST” IN RABAT

HRH Prince Simeon Hasan received first communion in the Russian Orthodox Church “Resurrection of Christ” in Rabat by Father Maxim. The Prince regularly visits the church at least once a week, and together with his parents attends all the official ecclesiastical services of the Orthodox community in Rabat.

Prince Simeon-Hassan was baptised in April 2008 by the Orthodox canons in the chapel “St. Ivan Rilski “in Tsarska Bistritsa. His godfathers are the King of Morocco Mohammed VI and Princess Irene of Greece.

The baptism was performed by the Abbot of the Rila Monastery, Bishop Evlogy.​

His Majesty and Prince Simeon-Hassan participated in the celebrations marking the 147th anniversary of the Shipka battles and the 90th anniversary of King Boris III’s opening of the Shipka monument.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of King Boris III’s opening of the Shipka monument. On this occasion, the King and Prince Simeon-Hassan climbed the peak to pay tribute to the fallen militiamen and Russian soldiers. At the place where epic battles of decisive importance for the outcome of the Russo-Turkish war and the liberation of Bulgaria were fought, the appreciative generations erected a monument.​

According to the actual laws of Bulgaria, neither the ex-king nor any of his family members carry royal titles (so his male-line grandchildren are not legal princes either.)
