Wonderful photo of the two 'goodfellas'. Carl Gustaf and Silvia attended Alexander's big 50th in London and his 70th in Belgrade. I am also sure CP Victoria attended Alexander's son Philip's wedding in the capacity of a witness or matron of honour as there was footage of her following the bride and groom in church holding candles and walking round in circles as per the rites... so the links must be strong. It's nice to see.

Wonder if the will have then 2 big celebrations or if they will combine the 80th birthday and the Golden Wedding anniversary somehow. Or that the Golden Wedding is celebrated low key which has been the case for most of them in other royal Houses. Only in Norway they had a Thanksgiving Service but without foreign royals.

Given that their Golden Wedding Anniversary is on Midsummer Eve (midsommarafton) in 2026, The unofficial National Day of Sweden it might be celebrated more low key, or at another date. Or perhaps they want to invite their guests to a Swedish Midsummer celebration?

Ahead of her 80th birthday last year, the Queen started a fundraiser for children in Ukraine.
Funds collected through "Världens barn" (The Children of the World) bag have gone to Clowns without Borders, Erikshjälpen and Plan International Sweden.

Mark Levengood met Queen Silvia at the Palace for an open-hearted and touching conversation about what the fundraiser means to the children and to her.
"The fact that Queen Silvia, as her 80th birthday gift, wanted a fundraiser for the children in Ukraine shows the sincere commitment she feels to children's rights issues. It was great to see how knowledgeable she is during the interview, and the conversation became spontaneous and lively. I went to the Palace a little nervous, because the Palace's grand and pompous setting can scare the wits out of anyone, but I left with warmth in my heart", writes Levengood in a comment.
