Lovely jewels, suitable for the event. I particularly like the earrings!
The brooch can also be used as pendant to the necklace. That's how HM wore it during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Thailand many years ago (with the modern firinge).

summary of the modern jewellery selected for their visit to Canada

Silvia is wearing the Nine Prong Tiara for the Nobel Prize again with the emerald earrings and brooch.

Expected choice of tiara as she wore the sapphire tiara last year… It has not been often she has stepped outside of that alternation…

The emerald jewellery complements the dress well…

It is really a pity that she now almost only uses this tiara or the leuchtenberg sapphires for Nobel. Some 20 years ago she also mixed the Connaught tiara or the Cameo Parure in between them.

agreed. I think the Cameo would have looked nice with this gown, albeit maybe a little busy. The Connaught could have been a great choice.

I would think the Sapphires and Nine Prong would simply be so heavy to wear for hours at a time, wearing the Connaught would be the lightest choice.

What could also have worked is the Cut steel tiara. But maybe Silvia think for Nobel this is to minor for the Queen

And the Amethyst Parure in 1986 and 2022… But it is not often she surprises us here…

It would be nice to see her majesty in the Aquamarin tiara at some point, but most likely the prong tiaras is the easiest to wear and combine..

The Nine Prong Tiara is tricky to wear as it is not flexible and can be a real pain if it doesn’t suit your headshape… Something Silvia got to experience during Nobel in 1976 when it gave her a terrible headache and left marks in her head…

However the court jeweller Bohlin constructed a prolonged additional base on the sides of the tiara so it would easier fit her and avoid leaving marks in her head…

In 2010 it was worn by Princess Birgitta to Victorias wedding and she clearly went her own battle with the tiara that tried to slide down her head several times…

What i wonder is that she did not know this already then. Because she had worn the tiara already a few months earlier at the State Visit to the Netherlands. Perhaps because she had not to wear it for such a long time then

Possibly that they didn’t secure it as hard in the Netherlands as it was not required to sit on for as long as it is for Nobel.

I've made my annual Nobel Prize Tiara posts for the ladies. Here is Silvia's.

So she's worn the Nine Prong 22 times, the Leuchtenberg 16 times, the Cameo 4 times, the Connaught 3 times, and the Amethyst 2 times.

As pretty as the Nine Prong is, I hope she retires it from the Nobel soon. Or at least uses some of the other tiaras more often! The Cameo is more than wonderful at the Nobel Prize and if she's going to be the only one to really wear it, I'd like to see her wear it!

It seems that the Nine Prong is her favourite tiara ever

I've been trying to compile all of her tiara events, which is obviously quite difficult for the 70s-90s. Especially with many image sites going away or to log-in/pay to even see photos. but from what I've collected so far, it seems like the Nine Prong and Connaught are pretty close. But I do think the Nine Prong pulls ahead of the rest.

Really. The Connaught tiaracwas worn more often then the Leuchtenberg sapphires? Thought they and the Pronger are a battle about the most worn

I'm only about halfway through my work, so I could be way off. But from my initial grabbing of photos, it looks like Nine Prong is the most worn, Connaught second, and Sapphires third. but I did recently find an image site that has a lot of photos I haven't seen before, so maybe that'll change.

And my least favourite Swedish tiara!
 I think I would like it more if we saw it less. She has so many tiaras to choose from, it's a shame to see her favor one over the other. Especially with Sofia really only wearing her own tiara these days and Madeleine only attends a few tiara events.

I guess Silvia has her favourite tiaras and she has quite a few to chose from for galas.

Indeed. But that is the case which most of the royal ladies. Queen Elizabeth II. favoured the Girls tiara, Queen Sonja favours the emeralds and the pearl tiara, Queen Margfrethe favoured the pearl-poire tiara and so on.

But it’s obviously her favourite 😂 And judging from my archive it was Queen Louise’s favourite as well all the way from her years as Crown Princess..

As it is inflexible i guess you have to hope that it does not fit Victorias head shape then and it will be a rarity in the next reign 😉

Here is my collection of tiaras Silvia has worn to the Nobel Laureates Dinner over the years. I recently found 3 more photos, so I'm now just missing 1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, and 1989. I think I probably have the photos, I just don't have confirmation of the date. Maybe one day!

So from what I've found, Silvia has worn the Connaught 15 times, the Nine Prong 8 times, the Amethyst 5 times, the Leuchtenberg 5 times, the Baden Fringe twice, the Cameo twice, the Cut Steel twice, and the Edward Ruby tiara once.

The Amethyst Parure always looks great on Silvia. Also on Victoria when she wears it… Their skin tone and naturally dark hair makes the purple stones shine.
