Queen Mathilde Jewels 2: 2022 -

The Wolfers is far superior to this tiara, as it has large and high quality diamonds. This design is of course more elegant. Anyway, an appropriate choice for a state visit from a republic. I am glad to see the waterfall brooch again, one of the nicest pieces HM has.

I concur, the Wolfers has much larger and better quality diamonds compared to the Laurel Wreath. But to me, the Laurel Wreath is a well balanced tiara, with a little more size and stature relative to the Wolfers in tiara form. That said, the Wolfers works very well as a necklace.

Great look for the Queen. The combination of the Laurel Wreath, the Fringe earrings and the Fringe brooch works well.
Yes I agree the Laurel Wreath, the Fringe earrings and the Waterfall brooch were all fantastic.

I'm not a fan of the long fringe earrings combined with the wreath tiara and waterfall brooch. They are way too modern, adding to a total of 100+ years of jewellery design on Queen Mathilde.
On another note, the brooch MUST be cleaned. It looked really tarnished on the video from the receiving line.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe even put on a new frame? It looks a bit black-ish and lacklustre.

The same for the earrings, the style is indeed very different & suit the Wolfers better. But I don't think HM has much choice, there simply aren't that many aternatives available.

In the tiara guessing thread I said I had hoped to see the Laurel wreath tiara just for a change and I was pleasantly surprised to see she listened to my advice :ROFLMAO:

In this occasion I would have preferred different earrings.

Is the bracelet new?

I am not I have seen it before. It seems to be pink topaz on some photos? The ring seems to have a rather large diamond.

Perhaps she should invest in a new pair of earrings.

As for tiaras perhaps she could for once borrow Elisabeth's tiara.

Mathilde has several other diamond sparklers that she could also have chosen.
Diamond Cartier earrings
Queen Mathilde's Cartier Diamond Earrings
Diamond Scroll Earnings
Queen Mathilde's Diamond Scroll Earrings
Other Diamond earrings
Queen Mathilde’s Diamond Earrings
Queen Mathilde's Exquisite Kunzite and Diamond Earrings and Ring
All very usable pairs, but none of them are necessarily in an old style that could have matched the Laurel Wreath for being from a similar period. But that is fine, IMO. Jewellery collections are gathered over time, and not everything needs to always match perfectly, IMO.

Given the pink hue of the gown the kunzite and diamond earrings would have been lovely last night
It would be in keeping with the pink theme ,I'm sure the queen has numerous other pairs that haven't been worn in awhile.

Given the reduced number of annual tiara events these days, a queen no longer needs multtiple tiaras (if she has many tiaras at her disposal, as the British, Dutch, or Swedish queens do, good for her, but it is not an absolute necessity).

Having said that, Queen Mathilde does need a second proper diadem (as opposed to a converted necklace) to alternate with the Nine Provinces. Even Queen Paola, who had, I think, fewer jewels overall than Queen Mathilde, had it as she could switch between the Nine Provinces and Queen Elisabeth's Art Deco bandeau tiara, as she often did.

If Queen Paola doesn't leave the Art Deco bandeau to King Philippe or Queen Mathilde, I believe King Philippe should buy a new diadem for his wife. A sizable diadem, especially with colored stones (which would be a plus!), can be quite expensive compared to a necklace set on a frame, but it is a necessary investment for a queen to have the bare minimum to do her job. Queen Mathilde should not have to be wearing the Laurel Wreath after she graduated from Duchess of Brabant to Queen, and the Laurel Wreath could have been passed down to her daughters.
