Why Queen Mathilde stays away from the Queen Fabiola’s Diamond Waterfall Brooch? She’s not worn it in years, but it used to be her go-to brooch for most important events… I hope she’s still in possession of that..

Do the Belgians have the equivalent of a Royal Collection like the British do?

There is a Royal Collection, but the Belgian monarchy website doesn't mention it as including jewelry.

In the case of the Congo diamonds, it appears that they are now State property. Whether they are part of the Royal Collection or some other trust, I don't know.

EDIT: This site mentions that the diamonds were actually given to the Royal Donation, which is the trust established by King Leopold II that also owns the royal castles/residences and the Laeken park.

The queen has added many new pieces since becoming queen but it would be nice to see the Diamond Waterfall Brooch again.

It is entirely possible that rules are in place in Belgium that gifts received from overseas are added to the Royal Collection, which could be provided to the King & Queen for their use. So if there were to be a gift of a parure from the Sultan of Oman, it could be provided to the Queen for her use.

I believe it is the same pearl choker she wore in the UK at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

That is correct, she has had this necklace for some time, and seems to enjoy wearing it. It would be nice to see her in some pearl chokers like Queen Camilla wears.

Do you have a source for that?
From the available photos of the Queen wearing it over the years, my observation is that the choker is made of real seed pearls and real diamond bars.

She wore very often this choker as young Duchess de Brabant because she had nothing else and then during 12 years not seen ; We thought it came from her personal jewel box but maybe we are wrong.

Good Lord the Belgian Jewel vaults must have been so empty back in 1999!
thankfully Mathilde has been doing her best to replenish them.

Yesterday we saw Queen Mathilde sport a new brooch, well, according to our @Jelka :

Both pieces were purchased from Percossi Papi. They are a four-leaf clover brooch with prasiolite stones, a light green quartz, also called green amethyst, and earrings in the same stones.

It was always od that we saw Mathilde only with the earrings but not with the other aquamarines. But now it seems that none of these aquamarines are hers. Nice that they were from a Brussels jeweller at least. i never heard of Fabienne Lascar and thought Mathilde mainly used Leysen.

Lovely earrings but a pity that that these stones are lost for the Belgian family too.
