Queen Mary's Eveningwear Part 1: January 2024 -

A very regal and very lovely look. There’s a lot going on with a lace and velvet gown, various orders and some serious jewellery, yet somehow she makes it work.
She does make it work. I think it was right to omit the necklace tonight and there was enough bling with the tiara, earrings, diamond portrait frame and the Commander Cross and breast star. Plus, she had a small diamond hair clip on her hair in the back. Just a stunning look head to toe.

On my screen the dress is reading more blue than green* which I actually prefer to the mismatched greens of the tiara and the dress.

* It looked green for the portrait photo from a few months ago.

This look is just perfection. On one of the grandest nights, Mary looks amazing. Live her hairdo with the brohce in the back , nice touch

I love her hair. It looks so elegant and yes, nice touch with the brooch on the back. There is no rule that a tiara requires an updo. And I like that she does her hair both ways. I love the look head to toe. Beautiful.

I know I’m in the minority, but I think there is too much going on. Not a huge fan of the lace here either.

The velvet gown on its own is beautiful.

Mary looked gorgeous … but agree with the others about her hair. I do prefer an updo for a tiara event.

Much better than her look in the portrait. Despite not having an updo it's still better than the hairdo for the portrait. Great she lets go of the necklace this time. And somehow IMO the lace works well with the chain of order, especially when there's no necklace to distract the look.

I agree! The lace and elephant order are a bit much for me - it is such a large order IMHO and since she has to wear it, I would have liked to see a different dress - even though I really like the dress on her. As you said, a lot going on!

Perfection! Everything works so well together. She was born to wear that tiara!

Mary looks really great even though this dress is not my fave, too much going on lace et al. I don't mind the hair think it works well. Much better look in person than on the first photos as king couple.

I think it is a beautiful dress for this event green velvet is a winner in January - agree with others about leaving the necklace off, it would have been too much (and I think she wore it in the first picture as Queen to make that statement of wearing this set but the reality is it never went with the neckline and lace of this dress)

The hair disappoints me - I think we are in an in-between phase whilst she gets used to her new hairdresser etc

No lace for a Collar and Orders . The whole in velvet should have been great !

I adore Queen Mary's dress. The Order and Collar look so striking against the dark color of the gown, including the lace (so delicate) and her makeup is flawless! The whole look works from tiara down!

I love the dress. Love the color and the material. I actually think this was her best hairstyle from the new hairdresser. I really do miss her previous one but I know he retired and good for him.

My only flaw was her hairstyle
It was nice and perfectly fine for another event, the New Years Court is slightly more formal and it didn't look right with a tiara.

We've seen all the Danish royal ladies wearing velvet!
