Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 2: March 2025 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The difference is that the Danish bandeau is still an intact necklace/belt and the collets are attached to one another, thus limiting how much they can move around to create a focal point.
The Dutch bandeau, on the other hand, is no longer a convertible piece. Don't know if the stones have been reset, but it's evident in photos that the links connecting the diamonds are no longer there. This has allowed the jeweler who created the bandeau to arrange so that they follow the shape of the head more naturally.
I thought the Danish collets were secured to a frame, in effect, like earrings, i.e. with individual screw mechanisms.

Oops! I think you're correct, after looking at a closeup of the back of the bandeau.
My impression was based on the video of the creation process, where they were probably still exploring ways to fix the belt to the wire frame.
It seems the connection loops are used to secure the (fully detached) collects to the frame. In this case it's strange that the stones were not arranged in a way that follows HM's head shape (and we know she takes her head shape seriously, having altered the rubies to fit it).

The 5 middle stones are slightly raised, so maybe that was done to create a centrepiece, but its not really noticeable when she's wearing it.

I agree. What is the point if they never can wear these jewels. There are very few events. So if a lot of the jewellery are gone for some days, do a discounted price for that day or close the vault. I can not see the problem.
The Rosenborg Treasury is three rooms full of bejeweled items: jewelry, mirrors, vases, boxes, goblets, saddles, swords, etc. Removing one parure at a time would barely be noticed, IMO. I'd love it if the rules were loosened, but I would also be disappointed if something happened to the jewels when they were abroad.

Mary added a grey south sea pearl pendant when she wore the diamond brooch from the Family Trust yesterday when she and Queen Margrethe were present for the reopening of the Court Theatre.. She also wore the diamond pendant earrings from the Family Trust.
I was wondering what brooch and earrings Mary was wearing and they looked wonderful too!

Day 1 of the state visit to Estonia - I believe these are new pieces to Mary, sapphires but maybe other recognise them

The Sapphire brooch is beautiful but in a strange position and somewhat nestled between the collars , the earrings to are stunning.

The brooch is apart of the family trust. I don’t remember seeing the earrings before.

According to the article the sapphire jewel was created around 1840 for Queen Marie Sophie Frederikke, wife of King Frederik VI.

It was then inherited by her daughter Duchess Wilhelmine of Glücksburg, and thus it left the mainline.

In 1872 she gave the brooch to the ”funding for the people affected by the flood” project. A public funding project to aid the people affected by a severe flood at Lolland-Falster.

Then Queen Louise (wife of King Christian IX) bought the brooch back and it has since belonged to the entailed foundation within the Danish RF.

Due to it’s history it is called ”Vandflodssafiren” (The Flood Sapphire)

I think the photo I linked below is the way the brooch was intended to be showcased. I like it in the photo but I think as the Queen moved around, her collar got displaced a bit.

I would not rule out wearing a brooch this way in the future, but maybe with a different, better behaved collar, or if that type of collar, her team can find a way to keep it in place.

Thank you for sharing the background in relation to the brooch.

I think the sapphire and diamond earrings are new.

The brooch looks beautiful on her. She is, as always, inventive with the way she pays tribute to the host country. The entire look encompasses the colors of the Estonian flag.

Mary wore her wedding tiara all diamond version, would have loved if she wore the pearl version or if she was going to stick with the diamond version that she wear an earring or a bracelet from the antique diamond parure!

Mary also wore what looks like quite a serious sapphire (or tanzanite) and diamond ring. She had previously used this ring for the gala for Christian's 18th birthday.

Nota fan how she has worn her hair today with her Wedding tiara.
Seems to be the preferred style these days, given that Maxima, Catherine and Sophie have also all had similarly styled hair for tiara events in the last year or so.

It doesn't have the same impact and I prefer an up style with tiaras.
Do we know what earrings Mary is wearing?

Her large diamonds that I believe she purchased at auction a few years ago that she frequently wears.

Love her digging into the family trust for this sapphire brooch - if Daisy never really wore it, then it must have been some time since it was last seen.

The wedding tiara wasn't a surprise - wearing her smaller tiaras to republic countries makes sense.
