Rose-cut Diamond Bandeau

Nice video, only in Danish however, with good close-ups of Queen Mary's "new" tiara. I feel like the tiara needs some editing. I think I would prefer the top metal bar not be covered in felt as that makes it seem heavy.

My ultimate dream would be to see Queen Alexandrines sapphire tiara teamed with the sapphire parure that QM II currently wears. I think though we will have to wait until the old Queens death for that to happen.
According to historian Trond Norén Isaksen, that sapphire tiara was bought by a private person when it was auctioned, and that person has borrowed the tiara to be exhibited… So there is not a huge likelyhood that Mary will wear that tiara i’m afraid

I do wonder why Margrethe never experimented with these jewels - but grateful that Mary is bringing life to these jewels again
As artsy as Daisy is, she is more interested in modern jewellery, so i don’t think she paid much attention to these very old pieces for that reason…. Unlucky for us, but happy that Mary does it

What brooch is worn by Queen Mary during the welcoming?

Edit: It appears that she worn the Pearl Poire Brooch and the top of Pearl Poire Earrings

Start of the State Visit to France:
"Queen Mary wore jewelry from the Perlepoire set, which previously belonged to Queen Margrethe. Queen Mary wore a brooch and a pair of earrings from the distinguished set that first belonged to Frederik VIII's queen, Lovisa.
The jewelry is part of the Danish Royal Family's Personal Property Trust, which Queen Mary was granted access to when she became queen."

Such a delicate brooch and matching earrings. I think she sets the tone just right. No need to be showy, just classy!
I will also not be shocked to see the brooch and pearl necklace she received from Prince Henrik during the visit (maybe return dinner?). Mary knows how to use jewelry to convey a message or pay a tribute.

And I agree - no need to throw on all the bling to make a statement.

The first lady seems to have something in her hair, but Mary has nothing.

Looks like Mary is wearing a pair of glass or crystal chandelier earrings, but otherwise no major jewellery (wich is correct as the dress code is clearly not even black tie but business)

It's probably the jewelry I see Scandinavian ladies often wearing, one of the beautiful Ole Lynggaard earrings

But then Queen Silvia still used Jewels from the Cameo Parure for an even lower dresscode (there were short gowns for the woman) Pity as some parts of the ruby Parure like the earrings and brooch would have gone well with that gown

There is still the return dinner. Has there been any indication what the dress code is for that?

If you look at the dresscodes for the return Dinners Frederik and Mary have hosted it will be the same. Even short gowns for the woman and no long gowns. If not trouser suits like in Finnland

I would have loved if Queen Mary wore something more formal and historic. Like the Ruby brooch at the waist or in the hair and/or the Ruby earrings (full form or small version). I feel something is missing.

I actually quite love the OL earrings and they match her skirt, however don't think it's a nice combo overall with the whole outfit, elaborated chandelier earrings with high neck and doilies here and there...IMO too fussy.

The high expectation comes from the historical jewels (the Pearl Poire Brooch and Earrings) worn during the opening ceremony. That is why our expectation is skyrocketing for the gala dinner.

The top doesn't really screams formal to me. It would be way better if she worn a white sleeveless top

Its a beautiful brooch and worked perfectly.

Whilst all of us jewellery lovers might have loved to see old jewellery emerge last night, I can understand where Mary was coming from. The French have themselves substantially "lowered" the dress code for state banquets, from white to not black tie, but all the way to lounge suits (expect it to be track suit bottoms in a few years!). In this context, a thoroughly modern look showcasing Scandinavian design is not a bad way to represent Denmark at an overseas event.

It should not be forgotten that Mary did bring out the older, more historic jewellery in a low key way earlier in the day.

True... but to see some of Desirée Clary's rubies in France would have been lovely. Perhaps she will wear it tonight at the Intercontinental hotel where they will host the French party.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima had a black tie dress code for the return event, which was an upgrade from the actual banquet (or lunch?) hosted by the French president Hollande at the time. So perhaps the Danes will have black tie tonight and HM is saving some pieces for that. Fingers crossed.

Entirely possible we see some rubies tonight.

But Mary already wore the rubies during the French State visit to Denmark in 2018. She has already paid homage to the French via her jewels.
For the Banquet in Paris HM has decided to highlight contemporary Danish design with her jewels. The histroc jewels would've been improper/too grand to wear for the rather informal dinner (dress code-wise) at the Elysee.

And why can this not be done several times? Queen Ingrid wore the ruby Parure at 2 State Visits to Denmark

Of course Queen Mary can wear all or parts of the ruby parure often, and of course no one would object, cough**Sofia of Sweden's wedding tiara**cough.

Mary has bona fides when it come to wearing historical pieces including wearing rarely seen jewels from the vaults.

I like that Queen Mary has shown to be unpredictable when it comes to jewels, whether it is wearing a rarely seen tiara or converting a belt into a tiara, but also surprising us by showing up to a state dinner where her most prominent jewel (IMO) is a pair of non-historical earrings from a Danish jeweler.

Well, the Queen herself doesn't see the need and found the OL pieces to be appropriate for last night's Banquet.

Mary wore a lovely brooch from the Mary Foundation
" The butterfly is the Mary Foundation's logo, and the brooch is a gift that Queen Mary received when the Mary Foundation celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2017.
Next to the brooch, the Queen has a red rosette, symbolizing the order she and the King received on their first day from President Emmanuel Macron.
Namely the Grand Cross of the Order of the Legion of Honor (Legion d'Honneur)."

Very nice mix of a historic order but also of her foundation that has expanded to France

Love it. Paying a nod to The Mary Foundation and highlighting their work given she had an engagement involving the Foundation's Anti-Bullying program that has now expanded to France. And love to see her wearing the rosette of the Legion of Honor she received. Just the right touch of "pop" on her suit.

Tonight, it looks like Mary is wearing the Queen Louise of Sweden-Norway's engagement bracelet

What a lovely surprise. Is it the first time she wears it?
