Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 1: 14 Jan 2024 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
It was bought by the ”Amalienborg Museum” and is on exhibition there…

Wether that means royals can use any of their jewels i have no idea, but i don’t think so
I was told by a source that the buyer of the sapphire tiara is a Danish millionaire with close ties to the royal family who wants to be anonymous. But would be nice if they could borrow it and pair with their suite of sapphires.

Doesn't Queen Mary now also have access to the Floral Agriette tiara? I would love to see that back on a frame like Queen Ingrid used to wear it.
It is my understanding that Mary does indeed have access to the Floral Aigrette tiara. We will, no doubt, see her in it in the long too distant future.

Yes it is included in the private foundation/Fidekomiss, I would also like that back as wreath. Perhaps on 01.01.2025

I loved the pairing of the lace dress and the Emerald Parure. It takes someone with total confidence to pull off such a radical move and she managed it. But strangely, I am not so sure that the tiara is "her".

But fear not people, our Mary has been dusting off the royal vault and while we have seen a brooch or necklace not seen for years, I'm looking for the debut of her newest tiara.

Queen Mary transformed the diamond necklace into a tiara.

Sloppy journalism, the info given is wrong. Queen Margrethe wore the necklace of the brillant set at Frederiks wedding. There are only 4 sets of crown jewels and there is a website which gives detailed infos and pics, so it's not that difficult to get it right. But they manage to misinform.

They are showing the wrong necklace in the Video. That is the neckalce from the brilliant Set which was worn many times by Queen Margrethe

So far Queen Mary has worn the portrait bracelet and one of the brooches from the Countess Danner set of jewels that IIRC had never been worn in public before! I took the virtual tour of the treasury at Rosenborg on their website (well the entire virtual tour is worth the time tbh) and there are quite a few pieces of jewelry (brooches, rings, earrings, etc.) that Mary could maybe make use of and really show off the pieces at Rosenborg other than the crown jewels!

I have a feeling that Queen Mary will work to ensure that pieces of jewelry are added to the trust so that they are not given away and leave the main line and also work to "bulk up" the royal collection of pieces! I do think that she has alot of interest in the history of the DRF through jewelry (as she stated in that great documentary re the Swedish and Danish jewels where she said that jewelry is a wonderful way to show the history of families, significant events, etc.).

They are not just showing the wrong necklace, but they are giving the wrong info that the same diamonds which Mary used for the tiara were worn as a necklace by Queen MII, notably at Frederik's wedding. It was Queen Ingrid who wore them as a necklace in 1950. As I understand it Margrethe only ever wore the brooch (not at the wedding) but never the belt/necklace of the rosecut diamond set.

QMII only ever wore the brooch at a gala event for I believe one of her round birthdays. She's never worn the other pieces. Queen Ingrid wore the belt once as a necklace. That's it. The video is completely incorrect.

Question: does the rose cut set have bracelets? I see that there are two smaller stands of diamonds. Not sure if those are parts of the belt that can be added or bracelets.

She wore the stomacher 2 times. for her 50th birthday and for the State Visit from Norway in 1991/92. Both times at the Kongelig Theater

I was wondering about that too. They are not mentioned in the info by the museum. I don't think they are bracelets in the modern sense (like the belt they have no clasp) but I guess perhaps jewels which could be sewn on the sleeves (the belt was sewn on the dress) or - as you say - extensions for the belt.

Good point. Maybe those smaller strands were also to be attached to a dress in some way. Hmmm...now I hope Mary finds a way to adapt those pieces too so that they can also be worn as jewelry. I wish they could have been added to the tiara as another row of smaller diamonds. Instead of one row maybe two or three rows of graduating size stones. Interesting.

Could they not be worn as necklace. Or perhaps that is the intention fort he rest of the stones from the belt

Fear not. I have no doubt Mary will have a plan. Lets just give her a little bit of time, and I have no doubt the plan will be clear for all to see.

Defo think they need to work it into the hair more, they need to do a bit more to hide the frame IMO. I'm surprised I don't yet love it. To me (and I never thought `i'd say this) too many of the centre diamonds are too big. Would be better IMO with one big diamond and then smaller ones either side graduating in size, it appears there are three similar sized diamonds in the middle so the effect is off until you see how far back the tiara goes. I guess this is in part due to the fact they didn't want to mess with the necklace too much.

Its good and a great addition but IMO a little bit work needed yet.

The stones are great but the effect worn like this is very underwhelming.

I think it looks great and wonderful to see these stones see the light of day again in a new form.

Maxima needed da few tries to ger her similar bandau to look good and find the perfect tiara hair for it, maybe Mary needs a couple of tries to. The hair is a litle flat, I dont think the new hairdresser is nearly as good as Søren Hedergaard, his tiara hairdos are underwhelming

When I saw the video of making it I though the diamonds would float a litle bit above her hair and move when she walked but it looks like they have secured it more like the Dutch version.

What kind of brooch is it she is wearing.

Mary likes to tinker with these things till she gets it perfect. I have no doubt that subtle adjustments will be made to the bandeau till Mary is satisfied with it. She made several changes to the ruby tiara before she was fully satisfied with it.

I agree. Queen Mary is known to be a perfectionist. I believe they will now look at photos of how it looked tonight and make any needed/desired adjustments. I am just happy that there is a new tiara as part of the Crown Jewels! I think she looks stunning!

I absolutely love the new tiara, more than the Dutch one. Love the big stones and that all of them are really big, without that rapid graduation in size. These are rose-cuts, not brilliants, and they have a closed setting.
If the diamonds were brilliants and were set differently, then it would all probably be too much, but this is just as it should be. Plus Mary's dark hair - perfect.
Regarding Mary's hairdo though, I agree, it's too sharp and flat.

Yes Maxima's hairstyle works better with that type of tiara. It looks better IMO because the tiara looks like it is nestled in the hair not just sat on top.

I think its great Mary turned this unused piece of jewellery into a more usable tiara, it just needs some playing around with to make it work its best IMO.

The diamonds look brilliant and bigger than I thought! Her hairstyle doesn't work with this though.
