Wow! What a treat on this winters day. The earrings and brooch shine and perfectly complement the delicate fabric of her dress. I have always imagined that fabric to have mohair in it. The jewelry and fabric are both reminiscent of snowflakes, imo.

I think it’s especially nice to see her debuting so many beautiful bracelets that haven’t seen the light of day since Queen Ingrids tenure as consort, as Queen Margrethe does not like bracelets…

Mary for the first time wore the Ivy Brooch, "According to the royal house, the brooch belonged to Crown Princess Caroline, Frederik VI's daughter (1793-1881), and was purchased from her estate in 1881 by Frederik VIII's Queen Lovisa."

That is a lovely brooch. Query if it is a bit much for an event like this?

What the Royals are wearing for the Holocaust Day is without interest. Thet just represent the many victimes of their Country.

What a lovely brooch. In the sea of her all black ensemble with the heavy coat, it is a nice touch. Not too much at all in my opinion. In fact, when you look at her ensemble from head to toe, it is a small blip in the totality of the outfit.

I think she will use this for black tie Events like yesterday or State Banquets abroad with a lower dress code, where the ruby or pearl-poiree tiara are too much
Yes i also suspects she will use this one the way QMII used the Turquoise Tiara, to ”less formal but still grand” occasions where the tiaras from the big parures are not suitable.

That and her wedding tiara may then be used for these types of events. I did wonder if the wedding tiara would be saved for a future wife of Christian

I suspect that, in time, the Edwardian tiara and Mary's wedding tiara will end up being in a pool from which the children of Fred & Mary can choose tiaras.

I hope a tiara better than Mary's wedding tiara is made available for the next Crown Princess.

At first I was disappointed not to see Mary in a bigger tiara, but quickly understood she is trying to present (successfully) a pared-down look - recycled gown, small tiara. Given the current tone in the world this is a very wise decision.

And I think it's just part of Mary's style, she can pull out the big guns when needed but prefers to keep it fairly simple otherwise.

It is in fact very nice they still wear tiaras in Denmark for black tie events. I was a little bit afraid they would "modernise" to no tiaras. I have asked the royal court in Oslo to do the same here, several times, because black tie events are more of than white tie. And how much "work" is it to bring a tiara? And it make the event so much more regal and remember most people dont go to a royal ball more than once in a lifetime, and I would be so disappointed to attend a no-tiara event/no historical jewellery. So Queen Mary is a perfect example to inspire the other royal ladies around Europe.

Come to think of it the Danish collection although not as small as the Belgian one, but they really don’t have big gun tiaras when you compare it to the Baganda, Luxembourg empire tiara, the Stuart or even the nine provinces tiara.

They either have small tiaras or decent size tiaras but you can’t call any of their tiaras as big guns

It’s a nice dress on Mary and the more dressy dress code is a good idea; dazzling sparkly things are part of royalty… but the tiara (and her tiara hair) are a very bad match with it all. It almost disappears, at least in that photo.

WWWWHHHHAAAATTTTT??????????????
Sorry for the caps, but really, I'm close to fainting. Why hasn't this beauty of a historic diadem not been seen earlier. Where does Mary unearth those treasures? And she pairs those jewels gorgeously with that gown. I'm absolutely stunned and desperate to learn more about this tiara.

And this brooch? Is brand new?

I personally don't like bracelets being worn over a sleeve - but in terms of coloring and pairing with the tiara and the dress it was executed perfectly.

There is more information here about Queen Caroline Amalie's gold tiara, which has not been worn for over 140 years.
