Queen Mary, Current Events Part 1: January 2024 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The DRF social media has posted additional photos and provided some information as to the experts and part of the program
I would have loved to have attended this event, the topics discussed!

"Samantha Scott Reiter, PhD and osteoarchaeologist, explored the roots of Europe and shed light on when people began to identify as Europeans, drawing on archaeological bones, DNA, language, and culture.

Christian Ammitzbøll Thomsen, PhD in history, followed up with a lecture on the roots of democracy, where he discussed ancient democracy and the relationship with those who were excluded from the political community.

Jeanette Varberg, archaeologist and museum curator, took the audience to material culture and showed how blue glass beads in burials revealed connections to an early globalized world."
Wow!!

Absolutely, it would not have been the most boring evening in Queen Mary's life! - In fact I'm a little surprised QMII didn't come along. Perhaps they locked her up somewhere, because this would no doubt interest her as well!

as we can see in the video, Mary was ready to try the food.
Not afraid to get her hands in the mix!
Great photos! Queen Mary is always up for anything. Love the photo on the boat! She looks great!

Also, I see my Governor (Gavin Newsom (CA)) is still in Brazil at COP30. I'd love to see Queen Mary meeting with him!

And photos of day 1 shared by the Palace:

From yesterday, "shipowners & industry leaders at @Maersk “Charting the Course” event during #COP30. With their work & support, we are advancing the #EnergyTransition of shipping, proving #decarbonization is feasible & that global cooperation is essential."

Today: "Today we received the Queen of Denmark, Mary, to present a model of productive courtyard, which is the Embrapa system, together with the President of Embrapa @silviamassruha. We also had the opportunity to visit an agroforest in the Embrapa area in Belém do Pará, as one of the activities of #COP30.
Denmark comprises the group of countries that finance various forest recovery and environmental compensation activities through the Amazon Fund. Being able to showcase the results of our work for food sovereignty and income generation for families is an opportunity to expand and win a global scale to combat hunger and poverty on a global level. It's jobs like this that transform reality and make us move towards a fairer world."

Mary's speech

Day 2 from the DRF

Wonderful message and video

"Today I had the honor of accompanying Queen Mary Donaldson of Denmark to the Veronica Tembé Memorial, a space of memory, resistance and ancestry of the Tembé people. The Queen experienced the sacred dance with us, listened to the indigenous voices, and made a speech she recognizes: there is no true reconciliation without the historical roots being seen.
Seeing this meeting made me see the power of presence: of bodies that have never been erased, of culture that is not sold, of knowing that it is still alive.
May this symbolic moment be a light for real actions, so that the worlds that have met today can walk together, with respect, recognition and partnership. 🌿✨"

And here are some more photos by the Palace:

In the heart of the lush green forest of Utingaparken in Belém, Her Majesty the Queen gained insight into the crucial role played by indigenous peoples in protecting the nature and biodiversity of the Amazon. As today's guest of honor, the Queen was invited to participate in a traditional dance.

During her visit, the Queen was briefed on the efforts of the indigenous peoples and the progress and challenges they face in strengthening their rights, culture, and access to their traditional territories.

The visit took place in the context of the return of a rare Tupinamba feather headdress in 2024, a symbol of cooperation and respect for the culture and heritage of the indigenous peoples.

Queen Mary is of course not visiting the African pavilion and Amazon projects just for fun. DK became a member of the UN security Council supported by a number of countries that are feeling the affects of the climate change or very soon will. DK being in the forefront in regards to green solution is at the council to advocate on behalf of these countries and try a make a difference in regards to try and at least soften the effects of the climate changes. (Alas, as the political climate is right now, our grandchildren are going to have to face some serious problems and they wont thank us for doing so little.)
But a number of countries both have a great interest (as in seeing opportunities) as well as from sheer necessity in coming up with solutions to adapt to future climate changes and the means new crops, new agricultural methods and even more sustainable solutions. And of course that both serves as inspiration for DK as well, but also provides ideas for new initiatives and provides a first hand impression of what might work in the long run. And as such may get support both politically as well as financially.

Love this! Very powerful! Do we know if this was an anticipated speech she made or was she speaking off the cuff? If so, she was amazing at putting words to a moment on the spot. That, to me, shows that she allows herself to be present in the moment and the participants of the event and really focuses on the meaning/purpose.

Nice comments about Queen Mary
Interview about Queen Mary

According to Peter Tanev, Queen Mary makes a significant impression with her presence at the climate summit.
In Brazil, you meet a queen who is both well-prepared and committed, and who manages to put into words some of the same points as the heads of state at COP30 do, he says.
- She has captured the right agendas, says Peter Tanev.
He also points out how meeting local populations and the places the Queen has visited has made a great impression on her.
- When she first started talking about what she has experienced, she was almost unstoppable, he says.

Interview with Queen Mary

"Climate change is a reality – we are where we are," she says.

She emphasizes that it is not just about ambition, but also about making things happen – and about ensuring that there is funding for it.

According to the Queen, innovation plays a key role, and Denmark has a lot to offer in this area.

At the same time, she emphasizes that it requires a joint effort if the climate crisis is to be handled.

"We have to be in this together, because we are in the same boat," she says.

Peter Tanev isn't just anybody in DK. He is the meteorologist here. So when he speaks about the weather and climate change he words carry considerable weight, because people know him.

great articles from a leading expert.

photos from yesterday night

More from the dinner
" Yesterday (12), at COP30, the Amazon Exchange Project celebrated its journey with the Amazon Dinner: Brazil-Denmark Exchange - a night that marked the end of a year of collaborations between international chefs, producers and Amazonian communities."

Wow...then his very complimentary words about Queen Mary are even more impressive given his stature. High praise indeed for her, her knowledge and her skills.

Food is a problem in the future as well, with new crops and food sources needed.
If every human on the planet were to have an average European living standard and using our current technology and resurces we should only be between 1-2 billion humans.
Currently there are 8 billion of us...
So some serious innovation is required.

Here's some information - though "state visit" may not be the correct term:

𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞-𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚

Her Majesty Queen Mary of Denmark has arrived in Kenya for a three-day official visit. She was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Tuesday night by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Minister for Foreign Affairs @MusaliaMudavadi, accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Rebecca Miano.

While in Kenya, the Queen is expected to tour conservation development projects for endangered species at the Coast as well as several landfill projects spearheading waste management, circular economy initiatives, and urban environmental resilience within Nairobi before participating at the ongoing UNEA 7 meeting taking place at the United Nations Office in Nairobi.

The state visit provides a platform to strengthen Kenya–Denmark collaboration in renewable energy, climate action, and environmental protection. It presents opportunities to explore new areas of partnership and innovation that benefit both nations, particularly in people-centered and sustainable development initiatives. Kenya extends a warm welcome to Her Majesty Queen Mary.

It's very much about money, export, investments and know how.
Kenya is among the most politically and economically stable countries in Africa.
Many would be surprised if they knew how millionaires and billionaires who live in Africa!
Kenya is and want to remain in the forefront in regards to development in Africa and in order to ensure that they need investments and just as importantly ensure a reliable and preferably domestic energy supply.

And as Kenya is very dependent on tourism they wish to avoid ruining the nature, they are so dependent on, while still building up an industry and preferably a high tech infrastructure at the same time.

Lovely to see. I was expecting a surprise visit during this time, Mary does not usually have a quiet calendar for long.
Nice to see her commitment and of course of Denmark, over the years. This is not her first time in Kenya.

" Her tour focuses on conservation, sustainable development, and community-driven environmental projects along our Coast.
Her Majesty expressed great excitement to experience firsthand the beauty, resilience, and innovation that define Kilifi. We look forward to deepening Kenya–Denmark collaboration in climate action, renewal energy, and people-centred development."
