Queen Margrethe II Jewels 2: Dec. 2021 -

It's nice to the Aigrette tiara again! By my records, this is only the 3rd time she's worn it for the New Year's Court (though I'm missing quite a lot from the 70s, 80s, and 90s). I love how she wears it differently every time.

Would be interesting to see pics of her from all the New Years Courts in her reign

So happy to see the Aigrette and Queen Alexandrine’s Sapphire Demi Parure!
Queen Daisy looks fabulous!

Queen MII was and still is the queen of making an entrance in full regal splendor like no other monarch around. Like she prepares, goes to the place where the jewels are store and says get me the biggest and brightest to give the world something spectacular to dream about. She is like Elizabeth Taylor and Catherine the Great all rolled into one person that knows how to make jaws drop to the floor when she arrives at a gala.

It always seemed odd to me that the Floral Aigrette would have been passed on given it was a personal gift to Daisy from her parents/mother and was a new piece to them not a historical, "heirloom" piece.

I understand it is owned by the Danish Royal Property Trust? If so I wonder if even Mary (And Fred) seeing how much a favourite of Daisy's are simply allowing her to continue to use it whenever she wants.

Queen Ingrid and QMII used to share a few pieces from the trust even during Queen Ingrid’s widowhood… I strongly suspect Queen Mary and QMII will do the same

It is somewhat surprising though as the conventional wisdom was that the Floral Aigrette had been passed on to Queen Mary.
The Family Foundation may own the Floral Aigrette, but I think it was a wise decision on the part of Mary to let Margarethe use it. It is respectful of Margarethe as a long serving monarch and a much loved mother. Query if Mary will also wear it from time to time, or if she will let Margarethe be the sole wearer of the tiara.

I also think the continued use of the Aigrette by Margarethe further justifies Mary creating the diamond bandeau, as otherwise, she would not have a plain diamond tiara other than her wedding tiara.

It doesn't surprise me that Margrethe wore this tiara - whilst not reigning monarch she still is a Queen and I am sure Mary is happy for her to wear this from the Royal collection

My thoughts exactly!
Margrethe II is also very much associated with the floral tiara, it just makes sense to let her use it. That said, I hope Queen Mary will also wear it from time to time. I'm sure Queen Margrethe II will share her creative ideas on how to place it in the hair with her.

I really like The Turquoise Daisy Bandeau, and I hope at some point it makes its way into the mainline. It's a tiara that would look great on Princess Isabella and Princess Josephine.

I do hope Margarethe bequeaths most of her jewellery to the main line. Specifically, the sapphire demi-parure and the 3 tiaras she has (Baden Palmette, Turquoise and the Nasuut).

I am not surprised she wore the Agriette tiara. She is still addressed as a Majesty and she is identified with this particular piece. However, I do hope that this is a piece that is shared with Mary. It is unknown how many tiara events QMII will actually attend during the year? Will she begin attending State Banquets for incoming state visits? If not, this may be her only tiara event this year. So, it would be a pity for the tiara to go back into a vault when Queen Mary could use the tiara on outgoing state visits to add to the available "big guns" of the Ruby set and the Pearl Poire. Then she could wear the tiara on a frame to differentiate from how QMII wears it in the 3 separate pieces. And the new Rose Stone Bandeau cannot be taken out of Denmark as it is part of the Rose Stone Set of Crown jewels.

I hope that QMII has or will make arrangements to have many of her beautiful pieces added to the royal collection.

Yesterday Queen Margrethe II wore the Baden Palmette tiara. Will this tiara remain for the main line of the royal family?

Surely it will stay with the Danish main line - maybe she reserves it for the future Crown Princess, in the way Ingrid left the Rubies for Frederick's future wife

Margrethe will not make the mistake to let jewels leave the royal family

She did already in gifting the Alexandrine drop tiara to Alexandra and the Dagmar floral tiara to Marie.
Is the floral tiara a gift or a loan, I thought it was a loan and this she had learnt her lesson from the Alexandra tiara mess

Neither Alexandra or Marie's children/descendants will have use for tiaras in the coming decades.

Keep the tiaras in the direct line Daisy!!!!

At the time of the Wedding it was said it was a loan. But she seems to have gifted it to Marie at some point because at the big exhibtion about her Jewels it was labelled as belonging to Marie.

In the information given at the exhibition of the tiara at Amalienborg a couple of years ago it was stated that the tiara had been ”gifted” to Marie.

In other words, the Floral Tiara will not return to the main line unless Count Henrik and Countess Athena decides so in the far future.

The ”Alexandra tiara mess” has in fact been the way things have been done in Denmark as most of the tiaras are privately owned and free to give away to whoever they wish should have it.

Her mother also dividend her jewellery, surly Margrethe got most, but Anne Marie and Benedikte also got serious and historic jewels from Queen Ingrid, and she also gave pieces to her granddaugters, like Alexia and Alexandrines ruby bow brooch. It would be very supprising if she would not gift serious jewels also to Joachim from her private collection.

Her jewels for the ball was so beautiful and historic, perfectly with her dress. Before she retired it was the pearl tiara so often I got tired of it, its lovely to see her other beautiful pieces

But Margrethe doesn't have any other daughters or daughters-in-law to pass on her remaining tiaras, so it is a safe bet that she will leave them to the main line.

In a way, the fact that she already gave two tiaras to Joachim's wives suggests to me that Joachim is not getting any other diadems from Margrethe's personal collection.

I do hope that is indeed true and no further historic jewels are passed on to Joachim's descendants. Perhaps the more sentimental pieces, eg presents from Henrik, can go to Joachim's wife and children.
