Queen Máxima's Eveningwear Part 8: December 2023 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The colour is nice and a really lovely hairstyle too.
The front part of the outfit looks like a decoration off a Christmas present!

She looks lovely but I have never liked this dress. It is nice enough of course but the opening at the decoleté is simply odd. Although a cleavage can be nice, this is not done nicely and the dress would perhaps look better ´closed´ or ´open´ but not like this. The colour is lovely, as is the use of textures and the crafmanship is always excellent of Taminiau.

I agree. I don't like the "cutout" style.

Good that the dutch royal Couple still host an return Event with a proper Evening dresscode unlike their colleges from Denmark

The clutch is by a brand from Qatar named JWAHR. The pattern is inspired by Persian art of the 16th century, says modekoninginmaxima. Cutting the wood takes 300 hours and the colouring takes 85 hours. The clutch was made for a museum in Qatar, but it seems the Queen has one too. it must have been a gift from the emir or his wife. A beautiful piece of art, I hope she will use it more often!

The blog also says that the dress is an ode to CYprus, as the national colour is copper yellow, which you can find a lot there. Although a lovely reference indeed I don't like this Natan outfit at all. A pity she didn't go for full length. One would imagine these things would be agreed upon with the presidency (or the first ladies office).

Oh I think the dress is dreadful, surely natan with his trademark shiny thick material. At first glance it is pretty, like drapery would be, but seeing how it doesn’t really fit just is not suitable for clothing

That is a very special clutch, hope Queen Maxima uses it for many years.

I agree his designs can be a few hits or a lot of misses and this one falls into the latter.

I think Natan clothes are so difficult to pull off. I’m surprised how quite a few royal ladies favour the designs. They rarely flatter the figure and rarely enhance jewellery.

I think he is a very amiable man, f.e. Máxima has known him since she lived in Brussels, before her engagement. Mathilde has known him from the time of her engagement too.

His designs will be relatively affordable plus he perhaps gives them a substantial discount as it is great publicity for him. other than that many of his designs are difficult indeed though they tend to be expensive looking due to the fabrics he choses.

The price will be lower and less transparant than the familiar luxery brands, which will is good in terms of publicity too. The last thing a royal wants is the prices of all the designer stuff splattered out in the press.

IIRC it was once said that the biggest plus of Natan was that he can work together intensively with the court, go through the calander and events and offer a complete package of clothes, shoes and hat (with Fabienne Delvigne) thus saving lots of time.

I wish she'd given him a much needed break and try someone new ,too many hideous and unflattering outfits.

I don't like that coat on Queen Máxima and the earrings are far too much also.

I almost like it even? Oddly enough as it has a lot of elements I should dislike. And it looks better now than it did 18 years ago. She looks good for a semi-official arrival.

Edit: as always Josine of modekoninginmaxima's blog has some excellent context. The coat was made by a kenian designer named Anna Trzebinski, who was inspired by the craftmanship of the Masaï- and Samburu-tribes.

Her website says the following:
Anna Cunningham-Reid and is a descendant of Lord Delamere, one of the first Europeans to settle in colonial Kenya

Queen Máxima in Claes Iversen at the state banquet in Kenya this evening - it does look great, but it's more Prinsjesdag, like in 2016, than state banquet:

** Full view ** Upper part ** September 2016 **
She also wore the skirt with a different top in Oslo in 2017 for the 80th birthday celebration of Harald & Sonja.

Maxima is so beautiful! Love the dress, tiara, earrings and the hair❤️

Fifth time for the skirt and third time in this combination (according to modekoninginmaxima). I don't like the hair but other than that it seems well chosen - especially if you compare it to the president's wife who also wears long sleeves.

I actually quite like the dress from the Kenya state dinner - the colour works on Maxima and the pattern on the skirt because she is flamboyant. I might prefer the matching top with it but for this dinner the long sleeved top was appropriate. She appears to like to wear that brooch at the waist with this dress each time
