Queen Máxima's Eveningwear Part 8: December 2023 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The dress seems badly made up close, so it must be Natan. The colour looks brownish to orange depending on the light. But the white lights inside probably make s it look more washed out than it is. The design looks good from further away. The fabric seems rather thin so with the airconditioning blasting she must have been cold indeed. I hope they won't get ill.
Yes I agree about the poor construction of the dress. Look at the v neck, the sides pucker and so does the waist. It must be a chiffon, very light and hard to work with for amateurs

Perhaps Natan shared some information with modekoningin as the website writes that it was a challange for them to keep this airy floating feel for the dress while keeping the ¨deep* decoletté in place. The sollution as you can see in these pictures, was to add tight skin-coloured transparent tulle over the whole decoletté, all the way to the neckline.

I agree, that would have been an easier solution.

The dress code was most likely 'formal/national', which is the typical dress code for official events in Suriname. National means that people can wear 'cultural/traditional' clothing. While most men where a business suit, most women wear long gala dresses (some with a cultural/traditional twist to it).

Very well done! And great styling with jewelry etc.

For those wondering why the queen seemed to have picked an Indian-inspired dress: the Hindustani population (East Indians as they are called in most of the Caribbean) form the largest ethnic group in Suriname (at about 27% of the population).

Now this is stunning. The saree inspired gown is perfectly matched with the jewels. And great hair.

Lovely nod to the majority ethnicity in the country in dress.

Great hair again and styling - she pulls out her A game for state visits, thankfully, and looks polished

There is no majority ethnicity. The largest minority is still just over 1/4th of the population.

The Afro Surinamers combined form a larger group (close to 40% of the population) but they are divided between the Creoles and Maroons.

But indeed a great nod (the program mainly includes nods to other ethnic groups, so a great way to acknowledging this group by her dress at the return event).

Just came across this LinkedIn post by someone from the Hindustani-Surinamese community in the Netherlands who showed appreciation for the queen's choice. As part of the Hindustani community she feels 'seen' and acknowledged by the queen.

Apparently it is a Jan Taminaiau creation from one of the many saris she owns. I think this one is one of her best looks ever, hair dress and jewelry. Just the right amount of gorgeous emeralds

Great colour on her indeed, but the sleeves on this Iversen dress are simply not nice. She looks better than during the French state visit and she wore this dress, as now the hair is in an updo.

I don’t like Queen Maxima’s Claes Iversen red gown, especially the sleeves. But when I saw the model wearing it, I have to admit Maxima pulled it off much better than the model. Those sleeves actually look reasonable on her. Claes Iversen should be paying Maxima for saving this red dress!

Máxima at the state dinner for the state visit from Finland this evening, December 11 - great colour, but I dislike the huge sleeves:

Nice color and open shoulder cut, and then we get to the sleeves. Where they inspired by Popeye the Sailor's arms?
