Queen Máxima's Daytime Fashion Part 23: September 2025 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Máxima in Indonesia today, November 25 (Natan, the scarf was a present, not hers):
** Full view ** Upper part **

@iceflower every time I come in here to check out your couture selections on Maxima's outings I am in fear of clicking on the links. This time was a Natan design mustard overload. Nothing to break it like a print, an accessory belt.
Today I seriously wished Queen Maxima had one of those Etsy concoctions she likes to wear around her neck or hair decorations like a tree branch, seaweed or fossil rocks, to divert the attention of this Maxi-Mustard moment.

And then I moved up and saw this attack on my eyes:

Informal arrival in Indonesia for a four-day visit to Indonesia in her role as UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health today, November 24:

I just don't know what to say except it looks as made from leftover fabric put together on that morning. The body of the jacket, the shirt and the top of pants are fine. But a mad intern seamstress, high on caffeine for sure, took over and decided to end the sleeves, pockets and legs as if she thought this was going to be worn by the king instead.

And speaking of starting a petition to have Natan committed to an asylum, Maxima introduced his new collection for the royal persons that need to be more restrained in fashion choices:

Queen Máxima at a school in Amsterdam today, November 20, once again she looks like being tied-up:
** Full view ** Upper part ** November 3, not the same look, but the same idea ;) **

Yes, the colour is nice but top of the outfit is horrible. Clearly it was buy one get one free in the straight jacket style.

I'm not crazy about the design ,the puffy leaves in particular.
The pattern and colour are nice and Máxima's hair could be neater looking.

Maxima in Jakarta today, November 26, Natan of course:

The ladies' expressions on the Full View link are all of us at TRFs. But I have to say when compared to the links I assembled in my last comment this passes for a well-adjusted moment even when it feels she's got out of a car accident wearing a deflated car airbag.

And the question for anyone in here that knows, why Natan? Netherlands probably has amazing designers with incredible ideas to style Maxima from hair to shoes and she goes for the one with the least talent?

Why is Natan her default designer when she has other people that would love to style her correctly for these outings?

Why Natan? Not sure if it was here or elsewhere but apparently its because a complete outfit can be bought from him and therefore it makes life easier. Once in a while, there are nice Natan outfits but some of nicest ones tend to be other designers.

Because she likes Natan.

Exactly, the main reason seems to be that he can take care of the whole look. That saves a lot of time.

See for example this short article in Dutch from last year based on comments from 'modekoninginmaxima'.

Finally a good look. I love the red look on her, great coat. If you are going to do a monochrome look, a color like this is a great choice.

The Jakarta look the color and pattern is good. But wtf is going on with the design? The shoulders are just bizarre it almost looks like she has a cape or coat of the same material over top it, the way its cut.

The mustard look I love the color. But not for a monochrome look. A top yes, but not the rest. It was also just a bad style. The only nice thing was the lovely gifted scarf.

The arrival look is like her luggage got lost and she had to put on the pants of a child whose bag her bag got switched with. The proportions are a joke. Seriously awful look.

The red was really lovely and the best outfit from the visit .
I'd really like to see Maxima moving away from Natan designs in the New Year and trying someone new.

Yes, the red outfit is the best we have seen on this tour. The colour really suits her and the style is quite youthful looking . I agree absolutely about the hair comment. But so many of her royal contemporaries have a similar need.

the outfit is 20 years old! I think it does look slightly dated in the collar area but the colour is good. Well done for following Princess Anne in clothes recycling.

Máxima in a new white dress on day 1 of the state visit to Suriname today, December 1:

The colour is nice and hopefully the dress keeps Maxima cool.
I'd be worried about placing such a beautiful brooch on her belt as it could fall off unnoticed!

One of the rare times I like a Natan look. She looks very good. I agree about the wearing of the brooch in such a vulnerable place .

From our point of view, Natan can take care of ruining the whole look. He has two signature ideas I see in his designs, one color from head to shoes and ill fitting outfits that defy reason. Why does she has to show up on a straight jacket? What's the Natan message there.

My opinion is if he has an important client like her he has to make an effort to make her look her best using references adapted to her body and the times so she looks regal on major events. Instead he uses her as an experiment where Runaway fashion never meant to be used, because it's like a Concept Car, is given to her to be seen outside a runaway.

A concept car is never meant to be driven on a street, neither is a couture runaway experiment is never expected to be seen in the wild on the streets. Natan has made his runaway show via Queen Maxima's wardrobe and its unfair she's stuck with him and not trying better designers.

Glad here she found an appropriate dress from Natan's house of horrors. Compared to the Maxi-Mustard dress we discussed the other day this one saved the day because it has an interesting fabric that is also balanced on top and below by the belt and sleeve cuffs being a solid fabric. She looks great and perfect for the hot equatorial Amazon weather.

Why couldn’t he make the underskirt a couple inches shorter than the skirt? Is he trying to save money? The way it is, you could interpret it as provocative and I think they are a conservative culture. The brooch looks ridiculous

For the meetings this afternoon (including the reconciliation ceremony), queen Máxima is wearing a short pink dress with another wide brim hat. See the video: Inheemse bevolking en nabestaanden tot slaaf gemaakten accepteren excuses koning en vergeven hem

Edit: see also the picture in this article

Another Natan I believe. Let's see if the rest of the visit stays the great Natan show... I imagine it might as again it saves time to have the whole thing done in one go.

The outfit change in the middle of the day is not usual for Máxima. Beatrix always did it for state visits, but Máxima stopped that. I imagine the temperatures may play a role.

I appreciate Natan is deeply unpopular on this forum, and a few others most of us are on. And with good reason, as his clothes can sometimes be "out there".

But I have a slightly different view. My sense is that Natan is only providing Maxima what she is seeking. She has access to some of the world's best designers, and can source her couture pretty much where she wants. But her professional relationship with Natan goes back a long time, and she perseveres, as he gives her what she wants. Similarly, what Natan supplies Mathilde is far more conservative and traditional in its approach and far less "fashion forward". So if anyone is to be criticised for the clothes that Maxima wears sometimes, it is Maxima and not Natan, IMO.

Queen Juliana must have had a few of those, though in less eye cathching colours. Máxima tends to go the full way with these colours± hat, shoes, skirt top and sometimes even the bag all in the same colour. But considering earlier Natan outfits there have been no fashion disasters in this visit [yet].

Perhaps we can blame both. She obviously likes the more flamboyant designs and combinations. But Vermeulen was a trained architect... and many of his outfits seem overdesigned, too many ideas etc. The fabrics are rich, but not always photograph well. The tailoring often is a problem too... What he has going for him are many things too. They can contact him whenever needed, I imagine he will give a great discount he is able to do a full wardrobe, and he is a charming man whom Máxima has known since she lived in Brussels before her engagement. And though there are many misses, there are hits too...
