Indeed. The Queen is usually impeccably turned out for events such as this, but clearly the hair stylist is still on vacation.

I think it’s pretty likely. We might not always like her choice of hairstyle for important formal events, ( she frequently would benefit from an updo),but she certainly cares about her appearance.

Perhaps it will be styled different inside. As we only get pics from them arriving, we can't really judge

Pretty sure this is not how she will look like at the reception. Often the royals arrive at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam in 'normal clothes' and change into their evening clothes at the palace. So, the main surprise is that the king was already wearing his evening clothes. For example, last year, he did not upon arrival.

A New Years mess and looks like Máxima just rolled out of bed!

Both she and the King looked tired, which was noted. While visiting the embroidery workshop int he afternoon HM was overheard saying that she was ´a little bit ill´ ..that would explain the tired looks and hair perhaps.

I did watch bits of the video of the visit to the Community Art Project. Whilst the purple ensemble was fine in itself, the blouse was crushed on the back. Also, the fabric of the trousers was clearly very flimsy, and not very becoming.

A much more elegant outfit on Queen Máxima after yesterdays messy apperance.
The queen had a month long vacation but looked none the better for it yesterday.

This is what is so frustrating, when she gets it right, oh boy, isn't it just splendid!?

What bothers me is the inconsistency. She doesn't need to deliver her greatest outfit ever every single day, just having her hair properly brushed every time she goes out would help a lot.

The top half is nice but the green leather skirt and boots are not nice together.
A better hairday thankfully than last week.

It is very cold so I understand the sensible boots. However the image is not elegant at all.

The mayor of Utrecht apparently couldn't be bothered taking of her sport shoes for the visit of the Queen.

Queen Máxima visited "Promising Start" in Zeist today, January 22 - a bit too much orange for my taste

It's a Claes Iversen suit:

Too much orange ,not much attention paid to her hairstyle and the suit is not the best fit either!
At least the suit blends in with the chair!

Every time I come in here I'm afraid to open those links above and find Maxima wearing gadgets on her head or around her neck like some tree branch someone passed as art at Etsy.

But, on these links she looks great on the red and green outfits and I'm glad, for the moment, she is toning down her need to wear performance art gadgets to distract away from the outfits.

I can live with her penchant for clumps of plastic jewellery and Mad Max Thunder dome Memorabilia but there's no excuse for turning up looking like she's walked through a hurricane.
