It will be interesting to see how her work shifts under this new umbrella term.

Edit: I found the following explanation by queen Máxima herself in this NOS article.

"We now want to achieve that people can use financial products and services that help them get a grip on their daily income and expenses, that they can invest responsibly in a company or save for long-term goals, that they can protect themselves against financial setbacks such as job loss or the consequences of climate change and have confidence in their financial future," says the Queen. "These four elements together form financial health."

Queen Máxima already had her first official appearance as the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Financial Health (UNSGSA)!

She has been in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil yesterday, September 26, to attend the forum "Accelerating Progress at the Last Mile of Financial Inclusion for Financial Wellbeing" of the G20 "Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion":

As UN Special Advocate for Financial Health Queen Máxima is attending the Singapore FinTech Festival today, November 6, and tomorrow.

Today she also met Singapore's President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana Presidential Palace:

Today, February 12, Queen Máxima met with members of the Standing Committees on Foreign Trade and Development Aid and Finance of the House of Representatives at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to talk about "her work as the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Financial Health (UNSGSA) and her work on this theme in the Netherlands". The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Den Haag:

Today, February 24, and tomorrow Queen Máxima is in New York City. Today she held "talks with private financial institutions about initiatives and opportunities to improve the financial health of households through the use of customer-oriented financial products and services. With permanent UN representatives from various countries, she (..) discuss(ed) the relevance of financial health for the UN development agenda".

It must have been a rather quick visit, as the Queen didn´t take her coat of.

The white/blue vase is apparently a design of Bernadotte Kylberg, of Prince Carl-Philip of Sweden and Oscar Kylberg. As discovered by modekiningin via one of their members:

Queen Máxima begins a 4-day visit to South Africa this evening, May 19 - her "first country visit under her new UN mandate for financial health".

The programme of the visit has been released today:

Tuesday May 20 - Cape Town

In Cape Town, Queen Máxima will visit three companies that contribute to financial health. In a township, she will speak to residents about their participation in a stokvel. This is an informal savings or credit association that is particularly popular among low-income communities. Members periodically deposit money for a savings goal.
Through cooperation with Nedbank, they also gain access to other financial products and funeral insurance. Many South African households get into trouble due to high funeral costs. The stokvel principle also works well for small-scale entrepreneurship. Queen Máxima meets an entrepreneur whose financial health has improved thanks to Spoon Money. This fintech links a loan to a savings program for low-risk investments. Finally, she will visit Discovery Vitality, an organization that specializes in scientific analyses and behavioral change. Among other things, it offers financial products that use nudging, a motivational technique for desired behavior, to help people make responsible financial choices.

Wednesday May 21 - Johannesburg

In Johannesburg, Queen Máxima, as honorary chair of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion, will participate in a fireside chat of the G20 Responsible Finance Forum with Michael Schlein, CEO of Accion, and a roundtable discussion of Mastercard. At Deloitte, she will talk to large employer organizations about what they can do for the financial health of their employees. Financial stress leads to many problems, such as illness and lower labor productivity. In the conversation, Queen Máxima will share her experiences with the Dutch National Coalition for Financial Health (NCFG), which was set up on her initiative by SchuldenlabNL, Deloitte and ING Netherlands. More than fifty employers within the NCFG will share knowledge about helping employees with financial problems and measuring financial health.

Thursday May 22 - Cape Town

On the final day, a meeting with international financial development organizations is on the agenda and Queen Máxima will speak with the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana. Earlier, she spoke in Washington during the Spring Meeting of the IMF and the World Bank with the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, Lesetja Kganyago.

Queen Máxima visited South Africa in 2011 on behalf of the UN for financial inclusion. In 2021, she had an online conversation with President Ramaphosa in his role as former chair of the African Union about financial inclusion for women on the African continent.

It's especially weird that they were escorted by the RVD; I guess Máxima was really tired when she arrived but still...

How very strange! I wonder if it has to do with the fact that she and the king were heckled a bit on the last trip to South Africa. Maybe she got flashbacks of that rather unfortunate time?

Bizarre, half of the work is being photographed. Of course she is not alone in the family. Beatrix loathes the photographers so much that during her last trip to the Antilles she asked the security to tell a photographer to get away, only to realise much later that the man was actually making photos for the royal house website. In her defence: they have not stopped apologizing to him since, says Rick Evers of RoyalTea. And at her last public duty she told the official next to her that she should smile to the camera 'as there are amateur photographers there too' (in other word she wouldn't like to smile at the professional ones).
