Was this kind of very oversized belt on a nightgown trending recently? Melania Trump also wore a hideous, huge belt at the state banquet during her second state visit to Britain.

It’s odd because while her hair usually looks lovely wavy, it looks overdone to me — and this is a tiara that’s looked glorious on her. The belt is unflattering and the style of the dress is weird overall; Letizia of all people has no need to wear anything resembling a sack.

Shocked at seeing this unattractive dress on her. It is too big, with cuff details and that ugly cheap looking belt. The tiara is beautiful but not worn well too far back. The hair is just strange. Not for her. Such a bad look

I don't like the blow sleeves, and the top part just isn't flattering to me.

I dont mind the hair style. But not with the tiara and this gown.

Terrible hair, I like the royal blue of the dress but the belt ruins it for me. One of the worst gala appearances ever.

The overall look was let down badly her hairstyle for the gala and it didn't work.
Had Letizia made an effort and styled her hair like that for the arrival ceremony and had a upstyle for the gala it would have been much better.

I can't say I like anything about the gala look. The dress is overwhelming, and her hair looks ridiculous.

If she would cut her hair shoulder length and do these soft, full waves! There is a picture that shows the upper part and Letizia is shown head on so you can see what that would look like.

The color of the dress is stunning on the Queen and I actually do not mind her hair, it looks nicely styled (although I do wish she would cut a couple inches off). The problem with this look is the vast amount of material on this dress. There is just too much dress for her small frame and it is definitely wearing her and not her wearing the dress.

In general the dress looks 1-2 sizes too big on her and the fabric is very heavy, with the train overpowering her.

I hope that dress was altered after its last outing in 2021 ,why didn't she make an effort with her hair?
I'm not expecting much from Letizia on State Visits and this was a private dinner.

You mean altered with respect to the high slit?
The dress is not particulary nice, the feather detail is ugly, not sure why somebody would chose such a dress for a dinner with the Chinese president.
Letizia has much nicer dresses that would fit the occasion.

I’m in the minority I like this cocktail dress - works for a private dinner and the feathers conceal the side slit.

I love the color. And without the feathers, it would be a really simple but elegant look.

Only thing good about the feathers it hides the high slit which not great for China.

Seeing her hair in the photo proves how much better her hair would be if she went back to shoulder length. On the left where it looks shorter (as its laying on her shoulder) looks much better.

A very lovely dress but I just wish it wasn’t ankle length. I much prefer a full length gown for a state dinner. I love the detailing in the upper section and her hair looks very nicely styled.
