Letiizia is frequently criticized for not taking advantage of the full range of options in the Spanish jewel chest, especially when it comes to necklaces and brooches. Maybe she is beginning to take notice of that criticism.

To be fair, we don't know how much access she has to the full Spanish collection while Queen Sofia is still alive. I assume Queen Sofia is happy to share and items like the Joyas de Pasar are Letizia's to wear anyway, but maybe she refrains from going too deep into the vaults while her mother-in-law is still around. Or maybe she is just minimalistic after all when it comes to jewels, as the posters here often claim.

We are unlikely to know the level of access Letizia really has to Sofia's jewellery. But I get the sense that Sofia has always been generous with Letizia. I think Letizia has always been quite minimalistic when it comes to jewellery, and that may a personal preference of hers.

I think the are the JdP pearls. Letizia has worn them a few times previously, but not very often at all.
 
Nice to see this set of pearls out today - she has always been very conservative and minimal with her jewellery. Partly I assume because it is her style but also for the economic climate in Spain

There's another pearl necklace I recall ,I think the pearls are smaller and more delicate looking.

But then Letizia has often worn earrings from Sets of Jewels which have previously been worn Queen Sofia.
 
I had to come here to see whether they were real! They don’t look it at first glance…

How does one tell?
 
If you look closely they aren't as perfect as they seem i.e. perfect enough to be manufactured or fake. They are all slightly different shapes - some more oval and some are quite round.
 
She has worn pearl necklaces since becoming Queen and some times worn them twisted round to slow the clasp

It's been a while since Letizia wore those pearls. They are magnificent. Like Letizia, I don't like wearing jewellery but those pearls are something else.

Good to see her wearing them again.

Lovely earrings but I'd love if Letizia would wear those enormous diamond and sapphire earrings she wore during the State visit to the UK sometime in the next decade. :giggle:

Lets see. She wore a pretty spectacular pair in Sweden a couple of years ago.
