Queen Camilla Jewels 2: February 2024 -

Yippee! After the disappointment of the absence of the Princess of Wales, this is just the pleasant surprise we need, It looks fantastic on her.

Large tiaras like Queen Alexandra's Kokoshnik suit Queen Camilla. It looks amazing on her.
It is amazing how she manages to carry off pretty much any tiara.

Interestingly, she has worn the Kokoshnik quite upright, unlike the other tiaras in recent years which she normally wears at an angle.

Amazing the way she can wear those big guns with such ease. She's clearly enjoying herself playing with them and it's an equal pleasure for us.

I quite agree Nico. I love that the jewel combinations she wears are often very different to those worn the late QEII. But it is amazing how those worn by QE look totally different on Camilla. The magnificent wall of the The Russian Diamond Kokoshnik being a case in point. So too the fringe necklace and, if I am not mistaken, her own gorgeous diamond earrings.

What with Camilla dusting off the Royal Vault and Mary doing the same, we are blessed with almost an embarrassment of riches for we royal jewellery fans.

Now all we need is lots of occasions to see them!

QA's diamond wall looks magnificent as usual but somehow the positioning? angle? look a bit weird to me. I describe it like that, normally tiaras "nest" comfortably on her hair but this time it doesn't, like it's pushing down her hair.

Not one of my favorite tiaras, if I'm being honest, and I don't think it looks good on Camilla. The only one who looks good in this tiara is Queen Mary, it looks rather clunky on everyone else. But that's just my opinion. I'm sure I'm in the minority.

I'm not a fan of the City of London Fringe tiara being worn as a necklace.
Camilla has plenty of other diamond necklaces to wear.

It can only be worn as necklace not as tiara. But it looked better on the late Queen then on Camilla. Perhaps she should try the Adelaide fringe if she want's to wear a fringe necklace

What i find interesting is that she mostly stays away from all the necklaces and demi-parures the late Queen got as offical gifts during State Visits (like the 2 Qatar Sets) and so far mostly uses private Jewels or Heirlooms of the Crown

I was never a fan of on the late queen either as a necklace.
I would love to see it adapted and worn as a tiara.

But there is already the Queen Mary fringe tiara and the adelaide fringe which can be worn as a tiara or necklace

I can’t work out why it’s not one of my favourite necklaces. Might it be the cut of the diamonds or the way they’re threaded ( I bow to experts here).

It is still early days and she hasn't really been to that many gala events since she became Queen. The initial priority, IMO, is to position her very clearly in the minds of the public as the first lady in the land, and to show continuity from the previous generations. This means using a lot of the jewellery previously used by QE2. Hence the use of GGBI, Burmese rubies, Kokoshnik and the Belgian sapphire tiaras. Similarly for the necklaces and brooches, it is important to create the link with previous generations, the jewels being an important symbol of continuity.

See pictures of Queen Camilla from the send-off at BP for the Emir & Sheikha. Queen Camilla is wearing what to me is a previously unseen pearl necklace. Might this have been the gift from Qatar?

It's the three row pearl necklace with amethyst clasp that Camilla wore when her engagement to Charles was announced. She used to wear it a lot in the first years of their marriage, before her other chokers came into play.

Has there been any pic of the necklace? I recall seeing footage of previous state visits where the gifts between the two nations were on display.

You are right, it is Camilla's old necklace indeed.

Very well spotted as usual and thank you for the clarification.
Really nice to see it worn again.

The Queen held her annual Clarence House lunch for children from the Helen & Douglas House. On her royal blue velvet dress, she wore her diamond and sapphire butterfly brooch, and a second bee brooch. I thought having both brooches was a really playful touch.

I was trying to identify that brooch worn today!

I enlarged them as my sight is not as good as it once was. Lo and behold it is not one but two brooches. The big butterfly and below it looks like a moth or a bee. I am sure she has worn both before but haven't the time just now to go looking.

I thought the arrangement of the two brooches was particularly playful, and event appropriate.

The larger of the two brooches is the sapphire and diamond butterfly / moth brooch. Camilla has had the sapphire and diamond butterfly / moth brooch for about a decade or so, and has used it from time to time. She also has a similar one with emerald and diamonds (as does Maxima), and one in all-diamonds.

I think the bee brooch comes from the royal vault. There are 2 not too dissimilar pieces that Queen Camilla has worn a few times in the years since she has become Queen.

Were those the diamond leaf clips the Queen wore on her coat on Christmas Day? Where are they from?

Are they these? Part of the Greville inheritance

The Queen wore the Greville Ivy clips on Christmas day. She wore them for the first time at the Remembrance Service for King Constantine of Greece at St George's earlier this year.
