It was a nice day! And on a beach in a nice village as well....my village :) Anyway, the Queen looks well. Isnt her horse called Benito? The Stablemaster rides this one during Prinsjesdag right?

Aren't you lucky Marengo to live by the sea, and in a village where the Queen sometimes rides her horses!

Does she ride often? I haven't seen her on horseback too much - I guess she is a little busy & likely doesn't ride as much as she wants too.:(

In the weekend she is there sometims, once a month at least if the weather is nice. Usually old men on motorpeds are going to the parkingplace to talk to the stablestaff of her majesty. If the queen comes (by car) they will keep a polite distance.

No wonder the Queen likes to ride in your village Marengo. Besides looking like a beautiful spot, I'm sure she appreciates the fact that the people of your village give her some space.

And you are so fortunate to have the opportunity to see the Queen so frequently. As a Canadian, I have the chance to see MY queen maybe once every 4 or 5 years. :(

June 15 2005 The Queen officially opened the Muziekbouw - a new concert hall in Amsterdam.

... and earlier in the day, the Queen visited a large work of art in Utrecht. These pieces of art are being placed in 25 districts of the Netherlands. They are meant to be an area where children can play, and in general, people of a community can meet.

How funny to see the Queen with Shakira. It must be a complete different world for them both. Her Majesty looks well!

I found these pictures of Her Majesty but don't know where or when they were taken because they don't have captions

Thanks for the pics Anna_R. :)

These awards are given to people who volunteer their time for nature preservation or culture. It must have been a rather poignant occasion for the Queen since this award (which began in 1950) has been given out every year by her father. This is her first time in presenting the awards.

Anyone know when will the next Jubilee Tour of Her Majesty?

Thanks for the pics HMQueenElizabethII:)

On Aug. 4, the Queen is visiting the province of Fryslân. It looks like this might be part of her Jubilee Tour, but other than that, at least according to the Palace site, there doesn't appear to be much in the near future. I guess things are slowing down for the summer. I imagine that she would appreciate a bit of chance to relax & enjoy the nice weather.

Does anyone know if she will be going to Porte Ercole, Italy for a holiday? Awhile back, I heard a rumour that their summer home was up for sale, but haven't heard anything since.

That pink dress looks great on the Queen. Wonderful color on her.

July 1 2005 Queen Beatrix and Princess Irene attended the opening of an art nature exhibit in Amsterdam. (I think that the Queen was scheduled to attend this event alone, but her sister, who is known for her love of nature, decided to join her.)

Caressed by sea and sun and awaiting the creative touch of a new owner, this fabulous property, which once belonged to H. R. H. Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, occupies a beautiful private gated 4.2-hectare estate on the idyllic Monte Argentario peninsula in southern Tuscany. Breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean unfold here, in one of the world’s most captivating settings. Simply put, a property of this magnitude and grandeur is rarely available, and it is an opportunity not to be missed. The estate comprises a main building, a guard’s building, a 345-square-meter guest house, and a swimming pool. The charming U-shaped main villa is awash in sunlight and showcases lovely views from a majority of its rooms. This versatile estate, which could serve any number of uses, features roughly 610 square meters of space. Mature gardens, olive trees, and wild Mediterranean vegetation add to the sense of privacy that pervades the entire property. One would be hard-pressed to discover a more beautiful setting than Monte Argentario, yet this tranquil haven is conveniently located close to Rome and the wealth of cultural and leisure pursuits for which the Maremma region and Tuscany are renowned. Thanks for the pictures The Watcher! Beatrix looks "cool" as always, but it must be very hot down there at this time of year. I'm sure she would much rather have visited in January or February as a nice little winter break.
