Princess Madeleine, Chris O'Neill & Family, General News Part 5: April 2025 -

So to me this seems like a fuss about nothing. CP visiting every other year as the marker suggests Madde is doing okay given she lived outside the country so many years IMO.
I'm always intrigued the hate for Madde.

Svensk Damtidning is a swedish gossip paper. Even more so since their current editor-in-chief Johan T Lindwall took over. They live for dramatic headlines, overexaggerations, and straight out lies. This IS much noise over nothing.

The only royal news in the ”serious” swedish media today had been The King and Victoria visiting the yearly ”Folk och Försvar” defense and security conference in Sälen.

Do the other royals with Duchies visit often?

Victoria and Daniel visited Västergötland 21.-23.10.2010.
Victoria and Daniel visited Västergötland 2.-3.2013, Victoria inaugurated the Victoria House (her 30th birthday present from Västra Götaland) by the Läckö Castle with Daniel 2.5.2013.
Victoria visited Västergötland 21.-22.11.2014.
Victoria and Daniel made the first of Victoria's hikes in Swedish provinces in Västergötland 9.9.2017.
Victoria and Daniel visited Västra Götaland County 25.8.2021 to highlight initiatives being carried out in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic.
And of course they have had many "normal" work events in Västergötland.

Carl Philip and Sofia have visited Värmland 26.-27.8.2015, 21.10.2016, 17.5.2018 (only Carl Philip), 19.10.2018, 28.10.2020, 25.-26.10.2022 and 4.-5.9.2024.

I am not being naive about tabloids stirring things up but I do not think that it is unreasonable to report that Madeleine last visits to her duchies were in 2009 and 2015 respectively.

Although I did get a chuckle out of a reporter from Hälsingland whinging about feeling forgotten and that Madeleine could bring attention to the duchy but then reveals that Victoria and Daniel have a summer cottage in Hälsingland.* I think it is still a fair point regarding feeling neglected by their assigned royal duchess but dude was really laying it on thick.

For the record, I am not stating that Madeleine has acted egregiously, and I think that Johan Lindwall probably rubbed his hands in glee when publishing this story, but I think this is a case where a tabloid reported a story that was both valid and newsworthy but also a bit more colorful than the usual fare.

* Note, I am reading a translation of the article.

Indeed. I will never understand my fellow Swedes' hate for Madeleine. She can't do anything right. If she works for the taxpayers, we hate that. If she lives off her wealthy husband, we hate that. And if she tries to make her own money, we hate that. I have no explanation. The only thing I can think of is that she has more of an upper class aura (accent and clothes brands and social circle) whereas her siblings are acting more like normal Swedes.

Madeleine for MinLen some days ago:

Madeleine has given an interview for this week's issue of French magazine Point de Vue.
Mainly about her work for minLen, family life back in Sweden. The photo accompanying this article was taken for the interview, more will probably be published later this week.

The Swedish Advertising Ombudsman's Jury finds Princess Madeleine's advertisement for her and Weleda's new children's skincare brand – MinLen – misleading in its claim that "MinLen is the first natural, responsible, multi-generational skincare brand in Europe – created with the needs of both young and growing families in mind."

The Jury notes that the advertisement contains the claim "MinLen is the first natural, responsible, multi-generational skincare brand in Europe". According to the Jury, the average consumer in the target group is likely to perceive the claim literally, namely that the product is the first natural, responsible, skin care product on the market in Europe that can be used by several generations. The advertiser has not proven that this is the case. The advertisement is therefore misleading and thus violates Article 5 of the ICC Marketing Code,
